hows this for an idea to pay riders

Edited Date/Time 1/21/2012 1:39pm
On the entry ticket the spectators purchase, there is a spot to write down their favorite rider. Then this rider gets a portion of the entry ticket fee... like a dollar.

This would give the riders a chance to try and make themselves stand out more in the public eye.

. All that would do is give J-law more beer money. Maybe he wanted the rental car to look like his valves!

Why is everyone worried about the riders making money? They seem to be doing just fine. For example Kyle Lewis who never won a National MX or SX made enough money to collect Rolex watches.

Now I agree the 40th place guy does not make eonugh to pay the bills but then again the 40th place guy needs to find a job that he can pay the bills after he gets done chasing his dream ride.

Please dont start bring up what NASCAR pays its 40th place driver because it dont matter. Motocross pays the few riders who have the most talent and thats how it should be.

How about anyone who isn't a top 20 rider from 250 and 45 class isn't included so the real Priviteer can actually earn a few dollars. That would be a nice way of supporting your favorite Local Pro who might make the main or you Fav up and coming rider. In Az we could have put a few Green Backs in the hat For Ted Cambell. A couple hundred fans at a buck each helps pay for his gas and entry fee. As far as the entry ticket I would keep it separate from the gate people they will want a cut. Put the donation stand in the Pits and give away some type of T-Shirt or a promotional item from the sponsored rider depending how much they give. Each Rider who is involved in the entry will have to decide if someone donates $1.00 to $20.00 what the donating party will get. Being in the Promotional Advertising Business this would make it a little more desirable to donate.

It is possible that he can afford Rolex's because his wife and daughter are in show business maybe? Huh

His Majesty LIKES paying prize money, so don't worry about it. I'm sure they are piling it on this summer.

With gasoline prices being what they are, and ticket prices being pretty high, attendence at Nationals looks to me like it's down a bit this year. I don't know the real figures - if ANYONE really does - but lots of people at Glen Helen said it was down, I don't know about Hangtown, but Freestone was no more that 50% of what it was last year. I also don't know about High Point, but rain the day before couldn't have helped.

I can see why - My son and I went to Freestone, spent $60 to get in the gate, $50 on a couple of tshirts, used about 20 gallons of gas for about $80, ate the lunch and drank the water we brought, and wound up paying almost $200 for the day. The problem is, not much of that money went to the promoter and even less went to the riders. Gas was the single biggest cost. At that rate, the Nationals are going to have to change significantly or they'll die. That's just the way it is.

All those people that were sporting big "W" stickers on their cars 4 years ago did it to themselves. Unfortunately, they screwed the rest of us too.

Why don't you just cut back a little on spending like going out to eat less, be a little more conservative on thing things you buy. You keep acting the the whole world is coming to an end. Sure I'm spending and extra $40.00 more a week on gas but it's not the end of the
world. The main stream media has you convinced were in a Modern Day 1920's depression.
Have you ever noticed how some average Joe's tend to panic when ever the news mentions the word depressed or depression it can make them feel uneasy, fuck them rise above it and do what ever you can to beat the system. You know I own my own Business and Yes things a little slow a little. You know what I find other ways to go out and earn an extra buck because I'm motivated to not let this as you say " Energy Crisis- Depression " ruin my day. I do Ebay part time, I buy and sell junk and sometimes treasures. I go to auctions garage sells.ect. I Sell the stuff on Ebay and make an extra $1000.00 a month. I will not let anyone dictate my life, especially the Government on how I am going to get through a bla bla depression. As George Carlin used to say: There are 2 kinds of people in this world 'FUCKERS and FUCKEE"S you choose. You ever notice the people who complain the most are the ones who never do anything about it! I may be just an average citizen but when it comes to local government I do write my local congressmen and local officials, and tell them what a fucking disaster you are doing and try to suggest alternative idea's depending if it's a tax bill to raise money for Cement Tea Cups on the side of Highway 51 here in Phoenix. Several Years ago the State spent a half Million Dollars to have some Jaggoff Artist to design Fucking Tea Cups made from ceramic to go up on the sides of the Highway here Called Squaw Peak Parkway. Shit like this makes me postal. I don't have a Pep Rally's in front on the Govrn's Mansion but I am not afraid to tell them how I fell and suggest alternate plans on how they are going to spend my hard earned money and neither should you.

Getting back to the real topic it's not a bad idea! If you had just 100 people give a buck a piece to your favorite " True Privateer " it would help some.

When I was racing Flattrack the Cracker boys would send a couple of hot girls around the pits with a hat to collect cash for the sportsman class . Most nights I made more off racing sportsman than 100 percent payback in Open Pro .

I'm not saying the world is coming to an end - I'm saying I went to a National and the highest cost item I had was gasoline, and I'm observing that attendence is down, and I'm observing that Supercrosses are held in metropolitian areas where people don't have to drive 200 miles to see them, and I'm observing that more and more riders are going SX only (including Stewart next year, I'd be willing to bet) which makes the Nationals even less attractive, and I'm observing that the riders at a National don't make jack from the race itself, and I'm observing that there's no way to increase ticket prices or anything that's going to funnel significantly more money to the riders because it's already an expensive proposition for people to go. I'm making those observations and concluding that the Nationals are in deep trouble unless they change significantly. Now, if gas prices drop some, things will get a little easier - but you have to put two and two together.

Just for discussion - if they held Nationals at big car race tracks, maybe build the tracks in the infield or alongside the banking, where they already have parking, camping, bathrooms and amenities and they're usually close to a city - would that be terrible? Or would that just be Supercross in the summer without a roof?

I'm not trying to be a dick to ya I just wanted to clarify that Knuckle. I understand your point as well. The AMA and the track owners for the Nationals should look at the numbers and make an adjustment if numbers are that low and advertise they savings to the public. I work on a much lower profit margin in my business with of course great services which allow me to earn some of the bigger accounts which I normally wouldn't get. I make up the difference in volume. The AMA Nationals should look at it this way if the numbers are declining. I mean this is 3 grade business science ya know?

I didn't mean to be belligerent about it - it's a big issue to me. I keep thinking about this Daytona Motor Group or whoever, and I keep thinking about all the land around those big car tracks, and the tracks are close to hotels and airports and have lots of room, lots of parking, lots of camping, lots of bathrooms, and all that stuff - and then I think, "Yeah, the only thing they don't have is a real outdoor motocross racetrack".

Now I agree the 40th place guy does not make eonugh to pay the bills but then again the 40th place guy needs to find a job that he can pay the bills after he gets done chasing his dream ride.

Please dont start bring up what NASCAR pays its 40th place driver because it dont matter. Motocross pays the few riders who have the most talent and thats how it should be.

well einstien, when the oldschool days that i raced were paying more than they are today don't you think that is a problem that can and should be corrected?
