Make sure to COMPLETELY flush your braking system if you ever switch over to DOT 5! DOT 5 is a silicone-based fluid, not glycol-based, like DOT 3 and DOT4. 5 is also more prone to water absorption, so you must change it much more often. The good news is that it can withstand much higher heat than the 3 or 4.
Riders looking for a higher-performance glycol fluid should look for DOT 5.1 - Castrol and Motul both have versions, I believe.
I run Motul in all my bikes with great success, in my 250 2stroke I was running Transoil 10w30 and shifting was greatly improved and the 800 2T pre-mix never missed a beat, its hard to go wrong with Bel-Ray, Spectro, Maxima, Motorex, or any of the main brands.
Some manufacturers actually recommend regular 10w40.
