As cool as it is, those bikes look slow these days. That must have been around 2004, Milsaps #188

I'm guessing that's more to do with the crappy track conditions and peaked jumps. Those bikes would still run circles around any factory 250 these days. Those whoops were crazy.

I now have a greater appreciation for modern technology, progression is the name of the game.

Here is the info given about the video from the Professor:

"If you love the sound of a two stroke and love watching the best ride them, here is a classic. Travis Pastrana and Ricky Carmichael at Suzuki test track in 2004. This is I think the first day for Ricky on a Suzuki after switching from Honda.
This is also one of the first test days for Tortelli on the new 450cc four stroke as
well as Davi Millsaps testing the 250cc four stroke.

Cool day at the track shooting with four of my school alumni"

Seeing as how RC had little to no time on the bike, I think it's safe to say he would have looked much faster if the film was from later in the season.

That four-stroke sound breaking into the glorious buzz of old school two-stoke bliss was fortuitous as well as sickening to hear. I do like riding and racing both two and four-strokes but man what a boring sound.

No guessing needed, that track couldn't be any more 4 stroke suited than it is there.

The RM 250's then we're very good bikes.

Geez, those Suzuki factory/practice bikes sounded like crap. For 250s, they had the most ratty sound. I remember being at the US Open, and MC's Yammy, Emigs Yammy, RC Kawi, Lusks Honda, etc etc... all sounded deep, loud and "factory" Then Albertyn would go by, and it sounded like crap just like these ones do. Better than a 4 stroke... yes. But crappy for a 250 2 Smoker.

I know what you mean. The old-style motor definitely gave out a lot of mechanical/bearing noise. Once they went to the new design in '01 that stopped though.

I feel like any 2-stroke that doesn't run a FMF silencer sounds tinny..

Awesome vids.
