I understand that website states that, but I have a hard time beleving the Carmichael and Pastrana figures are that low. I'd argue that RC is more up in the 50 area, and I'd bet that Pastrana makes close to 15 mil a year. Stewart number seems about right. Maybe I'm just crazy.

"Her net income from album sales, cds and tour in 2009 alone was estimated at $70 million dollars."

I would say she is probably worth quite a bit more than 70 million...

Depends what you mean by "richest"...

If you mean who's made the most from direct income from MX/SX then I'd agree that RC or Stewart would be the obvious choices.

If you mean who is actually the wealthiest, I'd have to say that Chad might take that crown.

That BRW list said he made $8.5M this year; if you assume he made no net income from MX/SX with starting his team, then all hat money has come from investments. Let's be aggressive and say that he got 20% return on his assets, that puts his assets at around $40-45M; which wouldn't include his house and other personal assets.

If you assume 10% return his asset base might be more like $80-90M...

Mark Kvamme is a MXer...

Prior to MX and the MDK team, etc. he made his fortune as an investor, for example investing in LinkedIn.

I would bet his net worth is up there relative to others mentioned here

Anybody on the ground floor early with LinkedIn would make RC look poor... LinkedIn actually sponsored Michael Brandes in 2004 or so I think...

Why'd he hang up all the motor builders and then fold the team if he was such a baller.

Another guy who got his cash the old fashioned way.....dear old dad.

Those sites are guesstimates at best...
TP is a legit WORLDWIDE HOUSEHOLD NAME, a modern day Evel Knievel..
Honestly wake up, MX is nothing in comparison, TP would have more fans than the top 10 past sx champs combined.
EVERY human who is moderately interested xgames knows who TP is..
TP is an elite x-sportsman who has a similar profile to the likes of Ryan Sheckler and Shaun White..
Mx is a small sport with a similar profile to bass fishing.

I would say the guys who used their racing money to become even more wealthy by investing money are the guys at the top of this list.

Guys like Chad Reed
Travis Pastrana
Bob Hannah
Brian Deegan
Greg Albertyn etc. ............

nice comparison.......

so how much was Evil Knievel worth when he died??? heck even at his peak??? made during his entire lifetime??

the answer.... not nearly as much as you would have thought for risking his life like he did.... I have no clue what Travis is worth, except for however much it is, it isn't enough for risking his life on a monthly basis like he does...

Pastrana may be more notorious and well known than Carmichael, but fame doesn't automatically translate to dollars. I doubt he is making much (if any) more than he did at his peak as a racer.

I agree 100%. Hell Tom Cruise only made 12 million from his 2010 Mission Impossible film. TV and that Nitro Circus road show wouldn't be that big a goal mine, and that show has like 10 people to split the money. I doubt Travis makes as much as Villopoto and Dungey.

TP makes 15 mil a year??? Really?

I understand that he's super popular in the action sports world, but 15 mil a year is a lot of cake. I'd like to see breakdown of that.

At any rate, he's doing very well doing what he likes.

Totally agree.
It's all a wild guess.

I saw that 50cent rapper on the Graham Norton show last month..
He invested money in a vitamin water company years ago and they sold it to Coca freaking Cola for 300 million.
That's how these guys make money.
Like Reed said in his tweet: he made 8.5 million this year and not a dime came from MX.

My guess is making money from the money they earnt racing is where the REAL money is. So whoever is the smartest has the most money. As far as investments go you are correct, nobody here has a clue what these guys earn outside of the sport.

No because he thinks a lot and makes good decisions inside racing and outside. He races smart, rarely makes mistakes and is always there, he ran his own team successfully- bringing the right people on board, and has made very good decisons in Business.

I was going to Say Greg Albertyn but there is no telling how the RE crash has affected his wallet.

Wasn't Jeff Liesk from a wealthy family, and went into the family business when he stopped racing?

Where would eric goebers rank?

Pastrana for a long time made his paycheck from Subaru in a series that never really got off the ground. Does anyone in their right mind think Suby or any of his corporate sponsors really paid him anywhere near 15mil a year?? American Rally had no TV package or spectators to speak of. The TV show on MTV wasn't paying any of his buddies a fortune and probably not him much money either, it was just exposure. To give you an idea, MTV pays their stars of the VASTLY more popular show Teen Mom around 60k a year. Real World goofballs don't even make that.

For total highest net worth give me Reed. I dunno if I believe 60 million, but from listening to interviews he has big investments in the right places back in Australia like commercial real-estate. That's where the real big bucks are in the world outside moto.
