I shared a '79 Ford Currier with my brother in high school. Tough truck. First car that was all mine was an '85 Chevy Sprint. 3-cylinders of raw speed. Going through Mission Valley on the 163 in San Diego, I had to be going 85 on the downhill so I would be doing 55 at the top of the other side. Great little car, though. Damn thing had the decency to die 2 days before I left for the Navy.
try railing that 4 cyl ranger up the rt 20 hills skippin' school to head to 'Dilla. I had the pedal to the floor going as fast as i could about 3 miles before, and the truck was usually loaded with 2 bikes and gear to accompany to juvenile punks.

i actually got a speeding ticket in Nelson once, about 10 miles before New Berlin turn off, I had it cranked doing 65 and asked the cop if it was entirely necessary to pick on little kids whose truck was re-enacting the little engine that could trying to go racing. Obviosly he didnt find me funny and dad was called..

My 63 Spitefire's radio didn't work either.

1973 Datsun mini truck. Paid $130 for it. Put in a japanese motor for $350. Lowered it and took it to Tijuana to have the interior done and body work and paint job all for $500. Threw some rims and low profile tires. It was painted Porche Raspberry and had a Kenwood deck, HK amps, and 2 10's behind the seat. Was in a mini truck club called Ground Control minis so-cal.

1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the HP 350 small block and swivel bucket seats. Fuel mileage BAH! who cared it was like 80 cents a gallon. Can't remember if it had 8 track or cassette though.

Did you have to tap on the dashpots in the winter? On the realy cool side of things the flip front end turned heads, well until that dinky engine was visable. Factory tube type header was a bonus. The cardboard trans tunnel a drawback, but the chicks still dug it.

My parents let me drive one of these when I was a senior in highschool... In 2008.

I'm a funny guy, so everyone thought it was awesome.

After about 2 months my mom got a new truck and I got her 04 Silverado crew cab. It's my baby! Perfect for going to the track!

1969 Camaro
Actually I bought 2 69' Camaros, but one was a parts car at the time. Now it would be a good starter car. The camaro I drove at the time had a 283 with a four speed. Which was quicky replaced by a 350 with a turbo 400 and later replaced with a 496 with another turbo 400 and 3.73 gears. I still have the car.

Wildbill, I always wanted a 66-67 nova/chevy II, someday I'll have one. I wouldn't even mind a wagon.

63 Dodge Dart with the old reliable slant six engine. Am,FM, 8-track - I think a pack of matches came with the 8 track when I bought it.

1969 Dodge coronet with a slant 6. That ole bitch had had a manual choke she was a cold blooded pain in the ass but her and I had many a good time power sliding around the Tobacco roads in Enfield CT. Oh and I can still splice an 8 track tape if I had to.

First car was a Mini Cooper S, the old style mini back in 1977. Was fast as hell, handled great and I had the 80 mile trip from home in Kendal to Blackpool College door to door in under the hour! and a lot of that was on B roads & urban speed limit areas.
Back then there were no speed camera's, just cops who couldn't be arsed to chase you!

66' bug. Shit brown with old school cheesey mags. Bought stock rims, threw a 90lb bag of cement i stole from pops and it was lowered and i was happy. Painted it twice, got it to show quality and traded it for a table saw to start my business. Still trying to get it back. My friends son has it and he races for the Porsche factory ( he said he was sending it to Germany for the mechanics to restore it for him). He will not give it up.

65 Impala 4 door. Always had to leave myself an out, as the shift linkage would fall off every time I tried to put it in reverse.

great topic!

My dad bought bought me a used 1970 GMC PU that was an old Contee rock quarry truck. The guy we got it from painted it Blue and rebuilt it installing a 327/350 HP from a Corvette.....Fenton mags...L60 rear tires......thing was smoking fast even with the 3 on the tree. Would pull the front tires 10 inches off the ground hitting 2nd WFO!

And yes I put an 8 track into it with an EQ / Power booster & Jensen 3 way 6x9's mounted inside the doors.

Wish I still had pictures of the old blue Yamahauler....stumbled on this picture this year in one of my wifes old photo albums with a friend leaning against it.

1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440 4 speed 3.90 gear, bought it from my neighbor buddies older sisters boyfriend. Dirt cheap he got arrested for drunk driving running from the cops and got it hung up on the rail road tracks. Took a little bit to fix the A arm damage, sway bar and shock.

15 years old 2nd fastest car in the county (Nebraska) and how I ever lived through the next couple years I'll never know. Had 2 other friends killed from cars like this.

First car with my name on it, 76 Honda civic with the 1300 4 speed. Revved out going highway speeds, but was bullet proof, bought it used from a nice Iranian guy in Va. Before that parents let me drive their 1971 Volkswagen bus and or Triumph spitfire. A friend who I went to races with totaled the bus on the way back from a race at Big Berm in Md. Oops...
