Fom Twitter: rynoglobal Ryan Hughes
Just hered the news on @treycanard that sucks big time ! I think it is time to ditch the bear trap around your neck seen 3 big crash from it

Here's Ryan Huges giving his opinion on Trey's preference to wear neck protection. I personally don't have the info to draw my own conclusions but, are Ryno's claims accurate? How does a neck-brace cause crashes?

I guess he's pissed they didn't pay ($) him any attention? Whistling Based on the previous discussion and Trey's and his mom openly defending the idea, one wonder if this a coincidence?Pinch

Ryno has his right to an opinion, as do all past and present professional racers,

but he has no qualifactions, and no research that he has published to prove his position, he should be carefull on what he says,

I question the neck braces myself, but to this attack i think Ryno is out of line,

I was riding within my comfort zone and just got an unexpected buck. There is only so much you can do when you are moving at a high speed.

Sometimes free advice is valuable, and sometimes it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

Which is which is up to Trey to decide.

This forum need s a neck brace section. So the same argument, like this one, can be recreated there every week or so.

We have one. It's right next to the two-stroke section.

Out of line? It's his opinion, there is also no research that states it does what it's supposed to, it's just theory. Look at the number of top riders dropping it. He was just giving Trey his opinion on it he wasn't making a huge deal about it and starting threads...

I could see how a leatt could brake a collarbone in a certain type of crash, It is one of those thing would you rather run it and not need it or need it and not run it. Let's face it the type of crash that the leatt protects you from doesn't happen a ton.

They way the leatt is positioned seems to be on the collarbone and I wouldn't be surprised if it increased Collarbone break. To me the alpinestar one is a safe design for collarbones.

When Leatt came big I heard a lot about it being built so when you have a simple tip-over in a corner it gets easy to break the collarbone.

But I still use it, because I have never broke my collarbone, but i've had 2 crashes this year when the doctor told me it was really good I wore the neckbrace because I landed right on the head ( One time was a get-off in a tabletop).

Bro I break my collarbones every winter too with a neck brace...

on purpose so they're stronger for next season. It's all part of the plan Bro's.

I heard Treys got this same approach

This isn't the same old argument that Leatts break collar bones. Or the argument about the effective neck protection the leatts are said to provide. I think we can all agree that those horses have been beatin. Ryno is bringing a different angle to the table, in which he is saying the Leatt is the reason why Trey has crashed out big on three separate occasions.

Yes, Trey happened to break his in this crash, but what Ryno is claiming is that the Leatt CAUSED the Crash no the BROken collar bone. The only logic I could see in Ryno's statement Is it not allowing him to utilize his normal riding technique. Kind of a stretch but, as previously stated Ryno is a bit out in left field sometimes.

No one ever broke a collarbone before Leatt was around. True story.

Neither does Leatt.

Show me independant proof, something the FIM should provide, if they cared for their riders.

I don't run a Leatt for the reason that it restricts head movement, $$$ for what? And it fu$king kills your collarbones. Well, mine anyway.. I've run them, adjusted them all the way out. Even used the like xxxl massive leatt. And I just found it hurt.. I'm not saying the leatt is the cause in this situation at all. Just pointing out my feeling towards them.

Then, you have a ton of riders opting to not use them anymore.. Reedy-(due to AM), Wharton, Grants not wearing the Astar anymore, once leatts #1 poster boy Dungey..

It's just however you feel about them really..

I heard you can get hemorrhoids by wearing one!!! A buddy of mine swear he got hemorrhoids the same year he started wearing the Leatt and another bro went into divorce the year after he started wearing his. True story...

So now we have collarbones, hemorrhoids, divorce. The most scary rumor so far, and I haven't got it confirmed, but some guy claimed he has been abducted by aliens, listen to this! The same guy has seen wearing one as well! WTF!?!?!?
