With what's going to be probably the most exciting year of supercross (at least since last year's barn burner) what predictions does anyone have about which things will surprise us?

1. How well Dungey has adapted to the KTM and that he has upped his aggression level
2. How smooth and consistent #7 will be this year (but only equal in speed to #2 and #5
3. How Reed will be out of the hunt (not quite quick enough)
4. Canard (wildcard)

Every year it seems everyone wants to write Chad off....that worked out great for people last year. Dude flat out kills it and doesn't get the respect he deserves.

Reed will be there, like always. Never count that guy out, he know's how to win Titles. I predict Dungey going backwards the first year on the KTM with teething pains on the new bike.

Chad Reed.....2012 Sx Champ!

Villy and Stewart will take each other out!

Dungey won't finish out of the top 5

Here is something that won't be at all surprising.

1. How people will use their own bias to like or dislike someone without considering the reality of the situation.

Reed proved you can be there in the end without winning but 1 race, I'd bet now that he is starting with a full factory bike he will be much better outta the gate. I'd never count Stewart especially now that he is on much better equipment and team structure, He just needs to limit dumb mistakes. RD will be strong as hell and I am guessing he will gel fine with the Ktm and will not loose a second. RV will be tough to beat with that big number one and his championship confidence behind him, Not to mention a bike he knows like the back of his hand. As for Canard I think he will be pushing guys out of the top three every couple of rounds maybe not going on big win streaks but definitely challenging the top guys. My wildcard guyS will have to be Grant, Chisholm and Weimer they seem like guys that can on one or two races a year wick it up good and land on the podium with a good start.

lots of orange on the podium indoors and outdoors in 2012 (not all pro circuit in the 'lites')

The reality is that we have four guys who have won championships in the SX class, and a fifth who can run with them, won against them last year, and has won championships on 250s.
At t-minus one month, all appear to be healthy.
KTM is a question mark because quite honestly, a KTM has never gone as fast on a SX track as this one will be asked to go in a few weeks.
What would surprise me the most out of your predictions is if JS settled down and got consistent. Been waiting how long for that one? Every year I think it might be the year, every year something crazy happens. He's not my favorite out of that group, but man even I am tired of watching him take huge diggers.

won't be a surprise to me- but perhaps to some of the fans over there it will!
marvin is a hell of a supercross rider (and not bad outdoors either!) if he's fully fit he will be up there both indoors and out- i think people already expect it of roczen.

It amazes me that people are counting dungey out because he's on a ktm!!! they have (arguably) the best bike in gps - no reason why they cant get it right for ama (with all the investment, roger, ken, marvin and ryan)

you dont think that between roger, ryan and the rest of the ktm team- that they will be ready come A1?!

in the MXA preview to the Decoster film it has him saying they need to work towards putting the bike on the podium, seemed weird they did not want win, not just get top 3's, Alessi tried to win championships against RV by being on the podium every week when they were on 250F's, i think you need to win at least 4 races to win a championship, podiums every week will not cut it,

I think the Sx will do RV, Reed, Stewart, Dungey then Canard,

I think if any team can it's them, you couldn't ask for better folks. I'm just saying that running up front in AMA supercross is new territory for KTM. But like I said I'd actually be more surprised if JS smoothed out than if RD does good on the KTM. Once he puts it on the box or wins a race, then that becomes the norm. Hopefully it'll happen sooner rather than later!

if all the contenders stay fit, maybe the biggest surprise could be mr consistency winning the championship?! (with no, or not many race wins)- theres a few riders that could win if they all stay fit

Got to say- if JS did smooth out, and stop riding WFO and crashing his brains out that would DEFINITELY be the biggest surprise for me. I think he would rather be the fastest, and crash than take a few 2nd/ 3rds and win the champs

The biggest surprise? I am going on a limb here but I really dont think Pro Circuit will win any championships this year. With KTM pretty stacked on the west coast and Barcia on the east coast, with all of them going outdoors it could be real interesting.

I covered a couple of potential dark horses in this...http://mxviewpoint.blogspot.com/2011/12/2012-supercross-preview.html

Kyle Chisholm will be good I think. Weimar as well.

The biggest suprise would be be if any of the big five don't win the title! lol

In the lites Musquin could be a surprise for you guys.... and Bogle/Anderson should be good!

I may have to agree...Tomac is in line for a Championship (maybe two) in 2012 and KTM will definately be in the hunt.

Dean Wilson not winning all 8 of his races.

1) Canard winning the SX title - This year he didn't have the speed of JS/RV, nor the consistency of RD/CR. If he manages to win it all next year, two broken femurs later--that'd be a shocker for sure. Some folks are already predicting a Canard title, but--and I hate to say this--I think they're just messing around.

2) Weimer running up front - he was a bad dude when he won his title in '10, but he sure had his problems this year. If he brings it in January, peeps be all, "Where'd he come from??"

3) James riding outdoors - he says he will, but has no one convinced. We'll believe it when we see it, Mr. Stewart. Sideways

I think the biggest surprise would be one rider dominating in the 450 class. It'd also be the biggest disappointment. Well, except to the rider dominating. Smile

Biggest surprise will be if Stewart and Reed won`t take each other out at some point of the season.
