They deserve to be in motocross and I want more involved.
They DO NOT need to be racing in the midst of the Lucas Oils AMA National Motocross Series on Saturdays..
Imagine going to a Lakers-Celtics playoff game and they insert a WNBA game in the middle of it ?
Imagine telling Danica Patrick to go race in a women's series ? Stop the segregation !
It will be a good day when some of the women try to step and, one FINE DAY, a woman will make it in and compete
against the boys. And I'll be cheering for her. Until then, the WMA needs to go on their own.

Bring on a 125 support class, or under 19's like the Aust MX series have.
You obviously have a bias "WMA pop" .........
If you read my FIVE YEAR PLAN, I have all the answers, including the integration of women into
the program. You can determine if they, for you - are the right answers. Cheers.
Pit Row
i think one can only race at a ama pro national if in hold of a pro license, and that can only be given to 16 years old kids......
so i guess the only way to have a really competitive 125 race is to change the all amature to pro program, or all you will get is riders that don't get to have a ride is the lites to try the 125 so that they can still be on the national showcase.......no competitive youngster would want to race a 2º class race when he can race the main race.......
so looking at the racing structure of classes and ages, this 125 race can only be held at amature national, where it is sured to have competitive kids going for the win.......in ama pro nationals a 125 race will always be raced by who doesn't make it to the main show.....and will end up like the girls....time to get a beer and a bite...!!!!!!!
the 125 under 18 works in mxgp cuz in europe we don't have the amature nationals and kids run their classes the same day and track as the country pros in all national championships, so its like a junior class and works as a steping stone for the kids to be noticed and make it to the big boys......
in usa a class like that can only work in the amatures, like it was anounced..!!!!!!! cuz i don't think they can let young amature kids race a class of a ama pro race....!!!!!!
B: 125 outdoor series? On two brands of new bikes and three brands of five year old ones? That's just not viable and it's not going to draw factory level talent. Are local pros going to run out and buy these old bikes just so they can race them once a year in a one-moto race? You'd be better off making a six-race national series for minis or schoolboys if you want to get the talent out there.
Supporting a reasonable entry level MX bike with a National series based on 125's is the what this sport needs.
There's nothing at all wrong with using the women as a marketing tool. That's like claiming that Kawasaki is using Villopoto to sell bikes. Ya think?
125s can only be revived if the amateur class structure gives them a viable home. Six races spread across the country isn't going to fix that. And I think there is definitely a need for them, because I wouldn't want my kid to go straight from a mini to a 250F either. The women aren't what is killing the 125s (actually women would be a pretty good market for them as well.)
And yes, I think that women are important to help grow the sport into the mainstream. I agree most girls are probably 2nd generation and have been around it because Dad does it. But it doesn't have to be that way and it isn't that way with the boys.
You guys do have "avenues for suggestions" right here, and both of you have my email address and my phone number, and so does Rupert and everyone else.... And yes, the women are "being used as a marketing tool by MX Sports," just as we are using Ryan Villopoto, Dean Wilson, Chad Reed, Ryan Dungey, Justin Barcia and every other athlete and team entered "are used as a marketing tool" because that's why they race, that's why they have sponsors -- to market themselves!
If you don't like the girls racing so badly that it's ruining motocross for you, may I suggest just going and hanging out in the pits for those 30 or 40 minutes, or go enjoy a snack at your campsite, or just bury your head in your hands and think about the things you do want to see.... No one is paying extra to watch the girls, and a lot of other people happen to think they are very good for the sport in general. I am proud to have them in the series and hope we can help them grow.

By marketing tool I don't mean to sell bikes. Women are not a market for MX bikes at least not 250f and up... MX Sports thinks they broaden the appeal of MX. Apparently not enough to put them on TV (unless it's a tightly edited results piece) but because they can add it to the marketing proposal to potential sponsors of the series. "see we have a womens class"... IMO they would be better off building a Danica Patrick out of someone like Vicky Golden instead of pulling the WMX collective skirt up to show they are not as a organization ready for the big show.
The 125 class does have National (and international) support. Schoolboy?? Hello... Most tracks out here still have a 125 class too.
Finally yes today most new riders are introduced to it. However MX was founded by people who found the sport on their own and that type of new rider still is around today. Boys/Men will find MX on their own, women almost always are introduced via Dads, brothers, boyfriends... I'd say for every 50 guys who "discover" MX on their own there MIGHT, MIGHT be 1 woman who does. Women are not the future to increasing rider/racer count.
Unless they are actually funny too. Then it's just good bench-racing debate and not personal insult time.

Typically that means that they have all the answers to suit their agenda.
