What the circumstances are behind Andrew shorts injuries? It seems to be a completely taboo subject that no one is willing to get into. Was there a non-disclosure clause in Shorty's contract that prevents him from spilling the beans? Are people told that they will be black balled if they breach the subject? Can you imagine NASCAR keeping secrets like this?

Anyone know what happened?

Did the bike break in half?

Did the bars fall of the bike in mid air?

Did he fall of the bike while sitting in the pits?

I heard that his engine locked up mid flight.

Let's see- we've heard the specific reason for the last 500 injuries we've heard about...and this one is total silence, because Short isn't talking. What conclusion would you draw?

We will never know for sure. I just hope he is fixed and can put the Honda on the podium.

I asked two KTM people. One person said, "Ah, well, it was a hot day, and the track was really slippery." The other said, "It was a mechanical."

I thought on Inside Moto he stated it was mechanical on the new 450, thus he selected the 350.

I don't think his comment on inside the moto about preferring the 350 over the 450 had anything to do with this injury.

WTF? You do realize his injury came at the end of the season right.

Gibby, since everyone is hush hush about what went wrong with Pala, have any drum beats? No, I don't care about tractors, but what went wrong with the Nationals?

What's wrong with the National there? From what I understand, they've lost money on it both years. They put in an awful lot of work (moving hillsides, plowing and then rebuilding some of their other tracks to make the pit area), and did things like bring in the grandstands.

I've also heard tales of money disputes between MX Sports and the Pala management.

I asked Short what happened and he said that they were testing some experimental stuff and the bike quit and caused him to crash. Left it at that.

Why is everyone so interested in Shorts crash?

Is it because he was riding a KTM?

Probably because it is one of the only crashes that no one will say what happened

Yup, the secrecy about it seems out of place in today's day and age. Everyone understands that shit breaks and riders screw up. If it was as simple as that, wouldn't they talk about it. By not talking about it they make it seem like something nefarious and possibly damning to someone or something.

Nobody is talking about it because there is no story. Short's bike had a mechanical issue, end of story.

Now get better and win a few next season, Shorty.

Seems as if Shorty said he was doing his job testing new stuff and had a mechanical. Good thing no one else in this sport has ever suffered an injury while doing their job.

and that's enough info.

What the f all this 'conspiracy theory' crap on here. No one is "hiding" that he crashed, none is hiding that it was a mechanical (like Pourcel's chain mechanical resulting in his spectacular crash).
Everybody knows it was a mechanics that resulted in an OTB. What's the point of the thread? blame KTM? ok, so what?

Shit happens in MX and SX, this is a dangerous sport, sometimes you screw up, sometimes someone screws up and takes you out, sometimes your horse screws up.

Chief, I'd like to get the secrecy out of motocross (and Supercross too) and there's a thousand different questions

that are of more pressing interest - to me, anyways...

1. The REAL TRUTH on Larry and Stewi situation...and Reed...
2. The REAL TRUTH on this whole PALA mess
3. The REAL TRUTH on what ECOAST track is being abandoned Mt Morris ? Steel City ?
4. The REAL TRUTH on this whole SouthEast track decide-a-thon
5. The REAL TRUTH on what went down with Glen & Helen's place
6. The REAL TRUTH on what's going on with Barber Motorsports Park and its' worlds greatest track
7. The REAL TRUTH on why we can't have real motocross races- vice these faggy timed qualifiers
8. The REAL TRUTH on why we MUST have Women's races stuffed into the PROgram.
9. The REAL TRUTH on why America (Red Bud?) got RIPPED off of the 2013 promised Des Nations
10. The REAL TRUTH on why JLAW isn't racing at the top pro level anymore ?

Agreed, but if the truth isn't coming out about something small and seemingly insignificant then what chance do we have about the big stuff.

Its the perception that Andrew Short was being a test rider for Ryan Dungey. Its the perception that Short was testing a bike with radical components that might break and that Andrew was in essence being a crash test dummy for Dunge.

Andrew, if KTM did not resign him, was testing stuff that he would never get any benefit from out on the track.

Thats the image that I get.

I think the engine was out of their enduro bike, so I doubt 'radical' is completely accurate, but you have very good points on the rest.
I'm just glad that career wise, Short landed on his feet. Seems like such a good guy and I'm glad that he will be staying on a top level team.

I'm living on a military pension, and, occasionally, a groundskeeper's meager salary, if someone, anyone, is willing

to put $80 grand a year, plus my travel expenses ( must stay at Embassy Suites, MUST), cell phone and liquor bills,

I will GLADLY scour the country, hound the riders and teams , make THOSE phone calls no one is willing to make,

ASK those questions nobody is willing to ask and, muckrake and make myself (more so) a pain in everybody's ass

and get you guys ALL the motocross truths - that we ALL desire.

Knowing that is NOT going to happen, and you can see why we are in this situation.
