I actually did 14 track days this summer and had a blast at every one. Its still doesn't beat Moto though, so I hope I never have to give either one up.....

Tires are the killer. I'll get 2 track days from a set of race take offs on the rear and maybe four on the front. Always fresh rubber for race weekends at $450 a set. Race gas at $25 a gallon adds up quick too. Who can say no to an extra HP or two on a race day?
There is NO way to experience open class streetbike until you get on a track, these bikes are deadly at any sort of pace on the street, so you don't open them up until you get on the track.
I will likely convert my CBR1000RR to track only this year, I only put 100 miles on the street this summer, and did about 16 trackdays.
Threads like these inspire me to start a business!
It's not how much you make, it's about how you set your priorities.
Lot's of guys in road racing tend to disappear for a year or two because they can't justify the expense. They turn up at track days after awhile, and then sure enough there they are on the line with you on a race weekend.
Supermotos are cheap to road race. You can huck one down the track at 100+ and they just slide. The porkbikes don't crash well. I've seen guys drop their bikes in the pits and do more $$ damage than I've done in my last three crashes combined.
I've had this 1977 KZ1000 for 27 years. Many mods but next is a full on Busa' suspension update using hand machined triple clamps, rear sets, engine plate etc. that my friend builds one at a time. (the slick and struts is from a drag race weekend)
This little Honda was my summer 2011 project. Low budget, everything period correct, and done the way the original Cafe' racers would do it: in the garage with whatever's available, recycled parts, fabricated parts and lots of hours of grinding, polishing, cleaning, painting etc etc. I LOVE how it turned out and it's an absolute blast to ride! I giggle like a schoolgirl whenever I ride it!
My next project (also a Cafe' racer) is a VERY rough 1972 Kawasaki S2 350cc, 3 cylinder 2 stroke that has been sitting in a manure pile for about 20 years lol. The only parts Im using are the frame, engine and gas tank. It's going to be a challenge!! lol
Pit Row
I could of sworn I've seen that bike somewhere before on the interweb
And this is how it sits today, we put 35,000 KM on it this summer, including a 35 day trip to the West Coast and most of the Western USA.
Heres the build thread I did on DoTheTon.com

Fun to cruise around on and sips gas. If everyone rode one of these, global warming would be a non-issue
