FMF
hey the pipe and silencer you just sent me are both the same diameter at the connection point

response:

we need photos
you will have to pay for return shipping
we will refund you the shipping if we find the pipe and silencer won't connect

do you not understand that companys like this deal with idiots all day long sometimes....

...not stating that you are in any way, but alot of people dont realize what they go through day in and day out.

sounds pretty straight up to me, if its wrong they said they would refund you. you have to realize, when they make pipes and silencers they dont do one offs and they are made in large batches and test fitted before they are packaged....

Put yourself in FMF's shoes...

your jig-made, CNC bent pipe/silencer came off a strictly controlled manufacturing line that has several points of inspection and quality control. Yes, bad products CAN get shipped out, but it's rare. Don't expect them to just ship you a free product at no cost with no evidence of what you're saying is true. They probably try to get ripped for free stuff all the time.

On the other hand, a throttle cable is made by hand and uses about $3 worth of materials to make. You aren't comparing apples here with these two products.

FMF is working with you and trying to make it right, standing behind their product. What's wrong with you for insulting them for not jumping up and dropping everything for you princess.

Sometimes it just matters who responds to your phone call or email.
Sometimes it just matters on the mood the person is in.
I have found FMF to be quite nice over the years though.

If anything they just wanna make sure its YOU and not their product before handing out another one or wasting money.
Perfectly acceptable.

Seems a pretty reasonable and straight forward response, whats the beef?

I bought a Pro Circuit silencer years ago, and it wasn't even CLOSE to fitting, although the packaging said it was the right one. Mounts were so off, it wasn't even remotely close. Took the whole bike and silencer to a friend of mine who's a tig welder and let him have at it. Used a die grinder to take both mounts off, position the silencer properly and use hose clamps to set the mounts properly. Tacked it, checked it, and welded it. A couple of hours and it was right. Not what I paid for, but was I going to waste time sending it back? Not likely. Had another silencer just in the last couple of years, different bike, different model. Same shit. Fuck you, Pro Circuit. Last thing I'll ever buy off you. Those guys Mitch has welding out back for 7 bucks an hour need to be paid more. Or be taught to USE the damn jig.

I bought a new PC spark arrestor off ebay. The package says its the right model but the mounts were off. The seller said no refunds so. I sold it on ebay again and lost $10....

every kid does want to work for them....this is true.
we are actually the 951 now...not 909

and the pay is not shit, if you have a decent resume =)

but to actually get a job at a decent MX place in So Cal, you have to know your $hit.....or know someone to get you "in"

I few years ago I was looking to buy a new helmet. I looked at the Bell website and they had a Mcgrath replica Moto6 on close out. I went to order it and got a call from a Bell rep the next day stating they were sorry but they didn't have any more of those Mcgrath replicas. They asked me if I would take one of the new (at that time) moto7s for the same price. I was surprised becasue the new moto7 was about $100 more. So some companies are straight up and try a take care of their customers.

I still wear Bell to this day becasue of how they took care of me back then.

I had the same thing with No Fear.......my wife ordered my daughter some close out gear, but when the package arived at the house it was not in there, just some other stuff we ordered. I called them and was told that the stuff I ordered was no longer around. I got contacted by Jeff Surwall the next day and he happened to have the same stuff I ordered at his house that his son wore for a photo shoot and sent it to me at no charge.

That is not what I expect out of companies but it is sure nice when they treat a customer like that.

"We need photos". I can see that as you are two thousand miles away and something sounds to be packaged wrong. A simple photo might help identify the problem so that they can have a new part ready to go for you.

"You will have to pay for shipping". Would it have actually been better for them to issue you a UPS Call Tag that would have taken 4-5 days for UPS to show up with? That's about how long it seems to take when I request one. You could look at it as they are just trying to speed things up to better serve you.

"We will refund you the shipping". Well, if it is wrong as you say it is, then what more can you ask for?

Now, if they had the bitch from Wal Mart that I had to deal with the other night answering the phone when you called, well then I can see where things went wrong.....Smile Laughing

About Motion Pro, they always get two thumbs up from me too.

I like hearing good things about TLD & ONE, best group of guys going.

As far as FMF goes, that's about normal. Try being on the dealer side, having to explain that to a customer, have the product returned bc they were wrong, then not get any shipping $ from them, not fun..

You would be surprised just how often people will try to slip one by a manufacturer.....and will tell them anything.

Post a reply to: why are some MX companies so nice and others not...
