Is this from the Race of Champions at Englishtown? I believe Kawasaki used to put on one for their mini riders as well on identically prepared bikes, but I'm not sure if they did that at Englishtown as well.

Awesome shots of Brian. What a talent on a bike he was, I remember hearing or reading somewhere back in the day that DeCoster claimed he was one of the most talented guys on two wheels he had ever seen and thought to myself wow! A kid from my little hometown is being noticed and commented on by the man! I have great memories of watching the Swinkster at the local tracks and especially Baja Acres where you could always locate Brian on the track by the amount of sand flying into the air when he would blow up the berms.

Dan, didn't Johnny win all 3 motos of the KROC in '86? Then Brian won it the following year?

Sad what has happened to this guy ! He is probably one of the few stars from the 90´s who has nothing left after racing.

If there is one guy who should be bitter, Brian is the one !

Hey Tony, is this from an issue that has the story about how Antunez and Swink got into a fistfight at the World Mini's that year after the KROC? That was in one of the first MX magazines I ever got and I still remember it to this day! Wait, maybe that was TOmmy Clowers and Antunez... damned memory!

Whats crazy is that, even though I'm now 29, when I look at these photos, or when I look at photos of the top guys racing in the 80s and 90s, they still feel older than me... I know it's just a psychological thing, but they still look older than me in the photos!

I know this is a REALLY old post but what a great collection of of photos and words on Brian Swink. He was such a talented rider and a pleasure to watch on a bike. I happen to have these pants that look very simular to those in some of these photos....I'll ever part with them!
I really hope Brian gets out of the dark place he's in with alcohol in his life.

A lot of people don't know that Brian broke his femur at a local track just before he turned pro, at 16/17, and then i think rebroke it. Most guys retire or slow down after that.. Is that correct D. boiivin?

This pic is why MX was so cool back then. How many guys nowadays with that type of speed would be running the stock, painted steel bars and exhaust?
