Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
the best part about the sport prior to the collapse of 2008 was the spectator participation...every year it really does die off and it is hurting the sport.
yes 4-strokes are expensive but if we had a big surge of PAYING jobs come back to this country..yeah..more people would still ride.
I can see how if a race is boring you'd be bored. But I don't get the engine thing.

i was @ A1 in 2010 when dungey moved up, him and JS were wheel to wheel the whole race.
i watched dungey and barcia duke it out on their 450's @ unadilla this year too
the same people saying 4-strokes make the racing boring were saying the same thing when MC was dominating supercross in the 90s
guess what..the 125 class was still boring when it went all 4-stroke and bubba was killing everyone on his kx125 lol.
Track conditions probably count for some of that too. Courses are tilled and groomed today where in the past a lot of them were hardpack and dusty.
Go watch some old two stroke races- there is a lot more "cutting and thrusting"- barrelling around the outside, etc.
The riders of today are still awesome to watch, but there is something intangible missing. The four stroke style is to kind of plow around the track. I was watching a race with a girl that knows nothing about moto, and she noticed the 450s seemed a lot "heavier" than the 250Fs.
The other thing I am really sick of is Monster logos. Somewhere along the line the sport became "Monstercross."
Nowadays, you never hear it, and dirt biking has simply dried up. Most of it is due to the economy, and some of it is 4-strokes. We all had 80s and/ or 125s and they were cheap to ride run and didn't seem to wear out. You didn't have the teams that you have today, but the local scene was very healthy.
Take SX, in the AMA what is fundamentally different about a race today vs 20 years ago, 4/ vs 2/ maybe & a few different jumps. The Aussie series had 1 lap knock out rounds for gate picks & mixed up the race formats ( like Monster Cup ), two things that as a spectator were great, AMA feels stale watching, like the commentators have done the same format/race event for years.
MX, I think it's the better spectator sport personally, but damn it's hard to find as a spectator, physically & promotionally, you could argue it's a minority sport in the US, maybe, but that minority that you have damn near as good signage here in NZ for 100 spectators to find a track as you do in the USA for a National for 20k, sorry I don't wear it.
So my take is SX is just plain tired as a product & MX is a fantastic event that is not well promoted.
Last thought, you can argue 2/ vs 4/ till you are blue in the face, but Electric is the sports saviour, it'll open up riding areas and race venue opportunities that 2/ & 4/ have not got a chance in hell of doing.
that's what happened to the sport. too many douchebags that make us all look like mindless idiots.
Let's simply answer the Question:
WHO is RESPONSIBLE for that motor?
I'm jus' sayin'...
Do you really have to call me a "douche-bag"?
Besides, smart-ass, it's a GMC!
Geeeze!
I notice some older guys that don't race, want to turn practice days into stuffing contests. Then come find you in the pits afterward if you race with them.
i see you doggin' me while you're getting dressed in the bed of your jacked GMC to some KMK blasting on your 15's
And of course this Internet thing has changed it all . Remember watching Bercy supercross back in the golden days. Used to be the first chance to see pro' wearing the new gear. These days new gear comes out in July/august.
If someone said to me 15 years ago that in the future you will be able to watch AMA nationals live on your cellphone I would never believed it !
Pit Row
it is true..back in the day you could buy a 125 and 250 2-stroke and race the damn things every weekend without a small fortune.
Who can afford it now??
MX is a blue collar sport..and that was the reason why it was so popular in the 90's...more people participating = more $$
i will also say facebook and iphones are ruining the sport as well...where i grew up people used to ride in pits ALL the time, now its dead. occasionaly ill hear a bike when i visit home but...10-15 years ago the place was a hotspot.
When he is on a 4 stroke he is faster but he isn't wringing the bike out for all its worth because its so powerful. The sound of the bike does not lead one to believe he is balls to the wall either. Most of the time the bike is giving him all he can handle and this just does not come off as exciting to me.
Is he any less talented on either bike, absolutely not but I think the 2 stoke looks more exciting to me for the reasons I mentioned.
when i used to ride, i always made/had friends at the track.
