Ben Townley out for Freestone

Racer X has just learned that Team Honda Red Bull Racing's Ben Townley has decided to set out the Freestone National in Texas this weekend and is likely out for the High Point race next weekend. Townley is suffering from several injuries that he aggravated last weekend in Hangtown. Right now, Thunder Valley in Colorado is likely the next time we will see him in the AMA Toyota Motocross series.

I think that might be meant to read "sit out".

That's a shame. Sebastian TorTownley deserves better. I really think he'd have enough speed to push James - maybe not just flat beat him, but push him enough to hope he made a mistake or something.

It's amazing to me that people feel Townley could run with James. Nobody can run with James.

Alessi is staying close to James, Villopoto beat Alessi like a drum, and Townley could run with Villopoto. Also, Townley stayed right with Carmichael at the MXDN in - whenever it was. Townley ran laps last year that were faster than the 450 guys in several occasions, and that on a 250F.

Townley has more speed than any of the other guys in the 450 class other than James, and I think he'd have had a chance at the title if he could push James into a mistake. I don't think he has the speed to flat-out BEAT James, but he could stay close enough.

Not anymore. He has a new trainer. Not sure of his name, but they said in theGlen Helen broadcast he has a new trainer.

All Healthy: Townley, Alessi, Ferry & Langston would have some epic battles for 2nd & 3rd.
