I think when you are the factory, or a performance product manufacturer, wins trump almost everything else. But for some of these other companies (accessories or outside-the-industry), you need personality and positive exposure almost more-so than race wins. In my mind it begs the question: can Alessi help sell plastic trailer shelves and bike stands?

On the other hand, maybe it's not about that. I mean, Valli wasn't out to get construction jobs by way of a motocross team, right?
L&M wasn't out to promote Brooks and Kranyak.
Maybe racing isn't meant to be Mike Genovas marketing tool. Who knows?

I do think that MA800 has a strong chance at some podiums outdoors next year, and I would expect his 2012 be better than his 2011 (provided he stays healthy). I wish good luck to all the parties involved.

DV may have eluded to Alessi joining MotoConcepts, and I am not saying they are not in talks but Alessi is also talking with a higher profile team on the east coast and he will have an even higher profile teammate and it will be a blue bike. You heard it here first.

Yeah...I would assume that is who he is talking about.

JS7 was testing with them last week...at his track down here.
This is the first I have heard of Alessi talking with them.
That would be an interesting combo under that tent. Wink

OK. so if Alessi signs with JGR, he has to move down there. That's the JGR policy. Alessi is now married. So......do they all move in together? I mean, newlyweds along with pappa-alessi?

I can see it now...

"no sex the night before a race, son!"

"awww daaaaad!!!!!"

"if you have sex tonight you will lose this championship!"

"OK, sorry Danielle"

HA HA!!!! Alessi might be talking to JGR but that team requires the kind of conformity I can't see the Alessis accepting. I don't see that one happening.

Even though you can't see it happening....i'd have to say that if i was a pro rider it would be a no brainer to go with JGR....not just for the budget they have and the kool stuff they can come up with because of it, but because they make no joke and Jeremy Albrecht also knows how to win a championship, lets not forget his success with James in the past.

Motoconcepts is a great team, not taking anything away from them....just stating what we all already know about JGR.

Is Albrecht better than Roger Decoster? Because Team Alessi had Roger as a manager twice! And that was on factory teams. As for Stewart and Albrecht, that year they won the championship together, even Matthes could have managed the team and Stewart would have pounced.

Look, I get what you are saying. JGR is legit. And I respect Albrecht. But we're talking about the Alessis. They walk to the beat of a very unique drum. What you or I would think is a logical move, may not seem that way to them. I hope I'm wrong because it would be a good deal for Mike, but I still don't see it happening.

Mike has a house here in Florida....I believe also.
JS7 compound is in Florida also.
Coy said on DMXS when Matthes asked something like...
If you get a guy like James do you make him move...or let him do his own thing?
I think Coy hinted ...do his own thing?

the talks with JGR are old news in this silly-season, but you forgot to add that those were only talks, there was no offer, and Alessi was interested when there was a possibility JGR would use Suzuki instead of Yamaha bikes. At that same time, Alessi also had his name in the hat for a ride with McBrooks.

Alessi wants a Suzuki that's why he bought one, and I don't see him ride a Yamaha at MotoConcept. I would be very surprised. He wanted a Suzuki, I don't see him going to try to adapt to a new bike, that already has a weird reputation among top riders.

I dont understand why you guys are persisting that Alessi is going anywhere but Motoconcepts.

DV said it last night on Pulpmx that he is quitting his job as team manager at Motoconcepts because he does not want to work with the Alessis'. I'm sure he would not have given up his job if it wasnt already a signed deal if not a handshake deal at this point.

Not saying he's bad by any means but i wouldn't say a top rider when he consistently gets passed by many others after he holeshots. I am confident in saying that if he holeshots but Barcia/Canard/Dungey/Reed/Villopoto/Metcalfe/etc are behind him, they will pass him within a few laps.

I know this is only one example and doesn't mean a ton but almost everyone here wouldn't call Partridge a top rider yet he passed Alessi at MEC pretty easily.

And what did Partrige do after he shot his wad in a qualifier that didn't mean anything towards payout ?

Alessi ended up 10th it looks like, I know he had that mishap in moto2 so he probably could have ended up around 5th? Again, that is without Stewart, Reed, Canard, etc

What place did Partridge get again ? not bagging on Kyle either because he rode good.

in my book anyone who can get inside top 10 and can lead laps is a top rider.

Ya that might actually be a good marker, inside top 10 I just feel like Alessi isn't quite in same boat as other top riders. I don't think I'd ever see Partridge able to pass RV, Dungey, Canard...
