It seems that many people may have jumped the Gun in regards to the Alessi Fingegate issue. As the picture below depicts Alessi did not give Dungey the Finger. It makes you wonder how many false rumors, negative perceptions and just overall bad attitudes towards people like Alessi/Stewart are just flat wrong and lies.
Why anyone could be mad at a professional who has dedicated his entire life to anything, only to get to the top of his field and have to pay his own way is beyond me. It seems you should be more angry at the sport when a guy like Nick Wey also pays his on way, Davi Milsaps might be in the same boat. This weekend was really more of a highlight on where the sport is at . The MEC highlighted two legitimate atheletes on national TV that are paying there way. Those two being Wey and Alessi. This is not enticing for anyone outside of the sport. Why take life and death risk to only lose money every weekend. Wake up people your mad at the wrong people. No one athlete can carry a sport. Ryan Villipoto as great as he is cannot carry the sport of motocross all by himself...Much like Lebron James or Tom Brady cannot carry there respective sports.
Do you think Alessi could be just a little frustrated at this point.
The Point is: Maybe Alessi deserves Apology...at the very least he needs to be cut some slack

also, Jeff and Ricky were quick to point out how unnecessary the "finger" really was, when after photo's surface, was not really the case.
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
I like that.
But i don´t know why people would "hate" M Alessi. He is truly committed to Motocross, and all he wants is a title!
I was surprised that he rode as well as he did.
Same goes for Paluzzi and Hanny...
RV and RD were so far ahead of the rest of the field speed, skill, and stamina wise that Allesi doing whatever it was he did with his left hand in the air over that huge double is the talk of vital mx.
As "peelout" pointed out though, at first everyone (including me) thought that allesi did in fact flip RD off so the announcers commented on it and now the casual fan is going to think that Allesi is a dirty rider and so on and so forth. I see a guy that ruled as an ametuer and hasnt followed up with the results he was expected to produce as a pro, but i dont see a guy that lacks the determination or drive to want to succeed. He tries his ass off and admits his faults (whoops) thats why I like him. Granted he might get lucky here and there if others crash out and be up on the podium on occasion I double he will ever be a Top 4-5 guy. I think he is a solid 6-10th rider indoor and out. He seems to fade late in the races but trains like a mad man so who knows what his deal is, maybe its just all mental.
ps sorry for the super long rant, just giving my .02
After seeing the pic ... I'm still not sure what he was doing with his left hand. I remember on the broadcast he was waving it at Dungey or something? Has he said what he was trying to do?
And from whom do you consider an apology to Alessi should be forthcoming ??

This weekend was really a highlight of how savvy Monsters marketing department is.
Why take life and death risk to only lose money every weekend. Wake up people your mad at the wrong people.
Why indeed ??? I'm pretty sure every rider knew MX was a badly paying , dangerous game before they decided to make a career of it, if the risk / reward ratio isn't to their liking they can always search under "Jobs" on Craigslist there's always plenty listed.
I want to see Pro Circuit pony up a purse for Anaheim 1 and 2. I want to see Fox pony up a purse for Oakland. Honda a purse for Dodger Stadium and etc. Decent payouts for everybody that makes the night's show. It is pathetic how little each of the major aftermarket, manufacturing, and textile/apparel companies put back into the people putting their life on the line.
I get the big contracts and the bonuses for the top four, but these companies are shooting themselves in the foot.
I hope this doesnt just send him off the deep end.
Pit Row
Mike Alessi is a public and outspoken PUBLIC figure. Polarization comes with the position. On one hand you complain that people are picking on him and on the other that no one is paying attention to him. What do you want?
No money in the sport? That is the fans fault? Professional MX is driven by the marketing money of a very few sponsors. That isn't the fans fault its the "agents" in this sports fault. The demographics of who watches MX/SX is pretty clear so either the madison ave ad agencies are really stupid, the "agents" in this business aren't very good or the demographics just aren't compelling. No matter how you cut it it is not the fans fault.
Finally quit being a drama queen about how Mike is risking his life, so do other people everyday. BTW you do know what happened in LVMS on Sunday. That guy was a champion and had to beg for his ride. Nathan Woods was a 3 time champion and had to beg for his ride. Life isn't fair.
If Mike doesn't like there is always a whole world of opportunity out there for him if he decides to hang it up.
Mike hasn't had the best of luck through out his professional career. I guess you make your own along the way.
Doesn't seem like Mike can catch a good break when he needs one.
Maybe the way the day had gone, Mike would have been better off keeping both hands on the bars.
I like the kid, and hope he can turn it around.
On another note, there are far fewer deals out there for the riders. Kinda like the way it is in most other businesses across the US. Everyone is expected to do more, with less. And then get less for doing more, with less. But then be appreciative for the opportunity.
DD photo.
Side note: I think it's hilarious that nowadays whenever there's a controversy, people just add "gate" to the end of whatever the controversy is.
Wait, that came out kinda wrong.
TFS was kind of the pioneer of "gate" in MX.
Ever remember..."Seat Bounce Gate" or my favorite..."Strobe Gate" (or lol bic lighter)?
"Mike Alessi DID NOT GIVE THE MIDDLE FINGER to Ryan Dungey in main event # 3 ...he did however point at him with a gesture of passionate racing ! "
