WTF Feld? What happened to the Superminis?

Edited Date/Time 3/4/2013 6:54pm
I personally know 2 families who let their kids stay up with the sole intention of being able to watch the superminis race. Dave Prater, the motorsports director for Feld promised on his twitter on Thursday that they were gonna broadcast the main events of both the superminis and the B class. I hope RV wins the Million because Todd Jendro, Praters do-boy, waited too long to try and secure an insurance policy in case someone wins all three mains, and now Feld has to pay the Million out of their pocket if someone gets it.

Great job showing 2 laps of the B class.

I thought it was weird that they had scheduled each first moto for supermini and amateur all star for a 5 minute gap and 5 laps... how do you fit 5 1:35 second lap times in to 5 minutes? Huh

I was really looking forward to hearing them.especially the start. What was the reason for not showing at least one full moto. I think they could of done it if not for the nascar B.S . during" our moto show",I'm sure at least 75% of the viewers said W.T.F.

Just a guess but...its seemed they ended up running just a bit behind, and with the live F1 race to follow, they had to make do. Ralph would of ended up just talking over the sweet sound of those hyper machines running at full song!!!

Still a good night of live racing. Sure beats watching College football on a Saturday night Cool

Any fucking day of the week Scottie! I really did want to watch the super mini and AM's run though......they kind of ripped us off a little...........even though it was free. Some of those kids looked really good out there!

You have to remember, F1 gets more eyes on it that the entire SX/MX series combined, MANY times over!

I thought showing the superminis would have been a great tool for growing the sport for someone who doesnt know how the top riders got to where they are

Feld always drops the ball. The coverage was awful last night. And I never bitch about this stuff, but I'm bitching. It absolutely sucked.

Imagine being a 10 year old watching and seeing kids your age racing at the Cup. Hooked for life.

Speaking of Freestyle... they give supermini's and all stars 5 minutes to do 7 1/2 miunutes of racing but they give 5 freestyle guys 20 minutes to do one trick each and take up 1/5 of the floor space for 3 metal ramps, run up and a giant landing? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Really? They could have fit the Supermini race in if they put the commercials on during the Pro race. I agree about the FMX bulshit though. The fans in the stands were going nuts though. You can see all the action if you're there without commercials, but you don't see anything in the back section outside the stadium. I wanted to see the minis too, but not at the expense of them going to commercial mid Pro races. I'm looking back at what was last night, a live 3 hour TV event of SX racing and am a bit shocked so many people are still complaining. I thought they did a pretty good job.

I have to say, that i got sick of all the monster energy marketing, and the guy with the "movie previews voice" , and not to mention the monster girls...you could even see when they were directing them to stand behind the freesyle guys for the interviews...jsut a bunch of fake unprofessional stuff.

I'm not sure what Monster and Feld are thinking sometimes....it just seems like they are purely marketing to mainstream teenagers....

It was actually kind of embarrassing watching some of it with my friends who don't know much about moto, some of them just laughed at how silly they hyped up the girls etc.....like a circus...

other than that....im glad i got to watch the racing!

I am happy as hell that we got to watch 3 hours of live broadcasting of our sport, dont get me wrong. But I know there were a lot of people tuning in to see the kids race and it didnt happen. But they did show plenty of the wore out Monster girls.

Its nothing new of Feld to fuck up the tv coverage. It was the same way last year with all of the live races. Never had the problem with MXSports.

All I can see is Vital has a bunch of cribabies who think they are critics... really?... you guys suck, your opinions suck... It was polished enough to enjoy... I was satisfied... I was shocked/happy to see RV win the million... How many times have we seen an event that had a big payday and the big never happened... "just missed it, barely", we'd hear... well, RV cleaned up last night... Not a bad night, financially, for any of the top ten... NTM, if you were on the podium, overall...
I enjoyed most of the coverage more than some of it... I never saw anything that was laughable...
Overall?... I went to bed satisfied with the results... Happy that RV won the big $, how many times has anyone seen that?... I was happy that RD/KTM made a successful debut, I was excited to see KW move VF out of the way, he was being a road block... just the right amount of AC/supermini coverage, for everyone in my house, but me , of course... Josh Hill looked awesome,..I was sad for MA, and I was dissappointed that Kyle Loza didn't pull off that, crazy, "scarecrow", bike varial FMX trick, that was... well, I will be watching FMX this year in hopes to see him pull that off... I think it was a successful show, and I hope they will have it next yr. and Speed will be there to cover it... I could have done without the Nascar break in, as if they don't get too much time already, boring,.. and I was a little confused/miffed... Next yr., maybe, they could have an amatuer highlight feed, pre-recorded for the filler in order to stay on subject and cover any dead air time...
Other than little things, It will only get better next time... MX/SX coverage and production gets better, every season, in person and on TV... Good things come to those that wait...

We didnt see much of the Amateur races due to the NASCAR coverage that interupted the Live show. I was kinda bummed about that, but Speed's main sport is NASCAR. I was kinda bummed about that, but Im not going to complain. Speed can do that during every SX next year if they show them all Live! Smile

i was pretty much bummed from the get go. What happened to all the other riders that were susposed to race. I thought roczan, barcia and wilson were racing. I figure wilson had the wrist injury. I thought they should have spent less time on making a crazy track and more time getting the right dirt and setting up the track. As for the not seeing the superminis other then a few mins really pissed me off. The freestyle was really weak. I guess i just expected more, i had been following this event for a while and was really looking forward to it. I was let down by the production not the racers.

Imagine all those supermini parents telling grandma and grandpa to look for their little racer on tv!! Most have backing to pay their way there but most didn't. What Monster did with Adam at that race was not right to the other 14, granted he's earned his place but still it was almost disrespectful to all the other riders and families.

The "filler" races will be the first to go. Those races are cool for the competitors and better than idle time for the fans, but just time fillers.

It was disappointing that they didn't show more of the Supermini's and Amature All-Stars. Isn't the race suppose to be a "racers" race? I understand that they have to pay the bills with commercials, but in that case they probably should have made both of those classes one long Main each.

All I can say is THANK YOU that they didn't have a WMX class. The Superminis and Amature was a great deal , too bad they didn't get more TV time.

My sons stayed up all night to see the Supermini and Ams ride.. We've gone to several amateur nationals and they know some of the kids that were racing. They were excited for weeks that they would see them race on TV and didn't get to see anybody. I appreciate any coverage our sport gets on TV but these kids are the future and it would have been great for everyone to see it.

Some of the best racing I have ever seen has been at amateur nationals. A couple of years ago I watched AC, Cooper Webb, Jaisaac Sloan and Jace Owen go at it. The fences are lined deep when those kids are racing and those that haven't seen it really missed out last night.
