I receive product for the simple reason that I sell a lot of product. I own a bottle of your product. I keep in my stash. I paid for it, dealer cost, but I paid for it. When I had my store front I sold your product, I offered choices.
I also am given (free of charge) other products, and in return, I turn many, many, people in the direction asked.
I have never paid someone however, to advertise their product.
The bottom line (for me anyway) is I move product. Not just a couple items here, and there, but thousands of dollars worth. It's what I enjoy doing. And, the people that know me, respect me for doing so.
We do what we can to help who we can.
Obviously that's not good enough for some, and since we cannot afford to give it away to everyone at no cost, I guess we will need to discontinue our program.
I know well enough you are not, and for anyone to say you are, has got to be a complete idiot. You have a great product !
It is hard enough to compete in this industry, to have people slander other companies.
I may choose one over the other, but I feel every product, motorcycle, soft good, has a good point.
I never said anything bad about the original post except that I would talk to the rep., and that to me Sponsorship means something me, that it obviously doesn't mean to others.

Racer support is sponsoring a rider, only under different terms
BTW, I have no problem with any of the opinions offered, I don't agree with some and I don't think they're well thought out from the company/manufacturer standpoint
and what is it called if you buy it 50% off one time and get it free the next?
hopefully the guys at Weapon have handled this. They have been on Proride for a couple years helping out tons of guys over there.
When I was on 80s I got a huge discount on bikes, but I still payed for them. When I moved up I started getting 125s for free. Both sponors just different levels.
Oneal was my gear sponsor and they had different levels of sponsorship, guys that got a discount, guys that got everything for free and guys who got payed. All sponorships just different levels.
I used to come home from school and have boxes of Kal Gard on my portch. They sent me everything I needed plus enough stuff to give away and promote them. I didnt however get anything from Engine Ice.
ATTN: Stickers
Can I have a hat?
Sorry
Back when I was sponsored by Renthal, they wanted me to display stickers on my bike in exchange for a discount but they wanted me to buy the stickers. Needless to say I never bought any stickers.

One thing pissing on someone who is supposed to be helping you in your hobby endeavor buy posting on a message board seems lame. Three sides to every story.
One thing I can say, the Weapon MX people support a lot of things in the Southern California region. They seem upstanding. Sorry you got the brunt end of the deal and I hope it works its way out.
Venting in general is OK, We are here to listen. But pissing on someone without the opportunity for them to voice back seems not even the level of childish. It just magnifies your short comings to be a real sponsored rider where you represent someone for what you are doing.
Please offer Weapon MX the favor in return to post your rider number, name and series so all other potential sponsors can stay well away from you and I hope you have a good life.
Is there something wrong with Bobcat posting his personal info so they can get a hold of him? Weapon MX has their info posted a few times over. If Bobcat doesn't like it take it up with BBB or the City in which Weapon MX has their business license. The more legitimate way to deal with personal discrepancies.
Here is not the first step to getting a problem resolved. It makes all parties look bad. Bobcat could be a great person. Weapon MX could be great people as well. We only know this is personal between Bobcat and Weapon MX.
It was just the wrong approach to solving the issue.
It was pointed out before. If you support your local shop, issues like these are a lot less.
When you decrease your gross income or spend money on marketing, you are decreasing the amount of potential profit upon which you must pay taxes.
Did you not read his post, he has contacted the company without success or response. I don't think that Bobcat did anything wrong with posting here - if a person tries to work things out with a motorsport related company without any success, then the consumer is well within his rights to post this on an open forum - often times this is the only way to get a company to respond - and yes if my business is related to motocross/supercross, then I am definitely monitoring message boards - basic business common sense.
You are right though, working with your local shop, will most often prevent these sort of issues - not always though.
You think any reputable company would not answer the phone or return calls ?
I saw their web site pretty impressive "Many Products secretly used by Factory Teams"
Made me skeptical .
I think in this case you might be correct The original poster should have dealt with his Credit Card Company and left Names out.
I haven't seen or been involved with any legit Companies that don't return Calls and have disconnected numbers.
This is just another prime example of the economy and I have a feeling it's going to get alot worse before it's over.
Companies are using sponsorhouse, mxsponsor, etc, to cut out the middleman (Dealers and Distributors) and generate sales by giving discounts direct to the riders, no matter who they are. The company makes $$$ and the rider gets to say he's sponsored.
Hell, I made an account on mxsponsor and received at least 10 offers from companies wanting to "sponsor" me......all of this and I never even made an actual profile!
Never posted a picture. never posted a single result, never posted what class I rode, never posted where I was from....
And you people are wanting to argue that some companies aren't using this as a simple direct sales revenue technique? Get real.
I bet I can go online and find at least 10 companies willing to sponsor me with product discounts. Im not a racer, I don't deserve any discounts in exchange for anything. In fact, I have absolutely nothing to offer any manufacturer! Why would they want me to represent them? I suck! Oh wait...they want to offer me a discount on product to get me to buy it.
I feel a sponsorship is when a company makes a deal with an influential/public rider to promote their product in order to make more sales to other common riders. That's my opinion.
When a company makes this deal with any rider, regardless of success, ability or publicity to get THAT RIDER to buy more product, that is just a direct sales scheme. That is direct marketing at it's best and the people getting hooked by it think it's the best thing that ever happened to them.
Whatever...Im not saying I wouldn't take a discount vs paying full retail. Im not above saving some cash when it's offered to me. I use coupons and discount codes all the time.
But I do have enough smarts to realize that my worth to that company is determined by how much cash is in my wallet that Im willing to give them. It has absolutely nothing to do with how fast I am, who I tell about their parts, or what races I win. All that mattered is I bought some product and made some profit for them.
I have to give it up to the marketing guys that thought up using sponsorship as a direct marketing tool. It works great. Every kid at the track wants to be a pro or be like a pro. Everyone can't be that fast or successful, but EVERYONE can be an important sponsored rider
I just made a sponsorhouse account. Lets see what companies think I will be a great promotional asset to the company image. Lets see how many sponsorships a spectator can aquire!
