With these lap times it will be like three regular SX main events. That s pretty amazing. Since both RV and RD are in the best shape, I don't see anyone beating them especially in the last two races. Looking at Hansen practice times and knowing he certainly isn't in shape = zero chance to win a race.

better question is why would anyone think the guy could ride at top SX level?

just what past race would make some one think that?
Ask Hill,Jeff Alessi and some of the other guys that come on here how fast Hanny is...when he wants to be,they all have ridden with him on SX tracks.
Also,he is always quick in Vegas on that slick hard pack...check lap times from the "past" years there...compare to the top 5 450 guys from that night, compensate the difference in CC's. Wink

He also did great down in OZ....when he won that championship.

oh i see. because you "think" he might be able to.

no reason to consider that there is nothing in his history to even begin to back up this concept. I realize it's valuable for media to hype the idea, to add more players into the mix and get people to speculate... but really Hansen is not a player at SX level. regardless of fantasy

So...did anyone really expect Dungey to be within .5 of RV after only like 12 days on the bike? I know it has only been 1 practice session, but i didnt...

Hansen certainly has talent. The question is commitment and work ethic.

There is no doubt any rider that skips the outdoors is going to be at a disadvantage for SX. Taking all that time off doesn't help you get better.

I see this over and over again, but why is any fast guy only fast "when he wants to be"? Does he need someone to get on his ass and put him in the mood or what?

I did and have him picked for the win. Despite what everyone thinks that bike is just as good.

Hopefully Windham holeshots and wins!

Because his speed is inconsistent....
I been around this sport for 30 plus years and have came across many guys like that.
One day you are smoking them....next weekend they show up and win by 10 seconds.
Next week you are smoking them again.
I'm not them so I cant see inside their head....but one would guess it is mental.

He smoked some good guys at X those 2 years he won it.
He also was doing good that 3rd year....til his pants came down lol.
But he was on it at first....whether the pants were an excuse cause he got tired or not..he showed speed at the beginning of the race.

I didn't either, but I also am tempering it with seeing Alessi 2/10's faster than K-Dub (and only .5 off Dungey).

I raced a guy like that, and when he was off you knew it meant he ran out of weed. Light a joint and he'd tear off like a different guy. True story.

Haha needed the weed to relax him prolly lol.

Back when he was at H&H and sucking it up big time....I remember Reed passing him in a Heat race,Hanny went back after him and passed back Reed. I was like WTF...where did that speed come from?
Reed obviously got him back...but he has shown flashes of speed here & there.

Here is a quote from Hill about Hanny....from a while back.
"He has more talent than anyone could ever know. He has only shown glimpses of it racing,
maybe you guys will get to see what me and a few other people around the test tracks have got to see "

Here is a quote from Jeff Alessi about Hanny...
"Hanny in the mud on a 250 is good to, ive had Ktm practice days where we had to ride on super muddy tracks early in the day, when he was there every now n then he would be fast still, he might have the best moto balance of anyone I've ever seen, that makes riding a motorcycle easy. I think kdub is another equally balanced rider wich makes these guys good in mud. "

I don't consider .5 on a sec crash to be that close.

To be honest I'm not surprised. Neither of them have had a ton of SX testing on their current steeds.

Practice and lap times don't mean anything. Hanny knows how to ride a dirt bike

Hanny is a clever racer. He knows it all about getting out front early and controlling things.

He's been pretty good at these low-pressure, non-AMA series things. He could do OK if he gets good starts and there's a little carnage behind him. I think he'll be feeling the longer lap times though.

I don't believe he is facing the same talent that he did in X games.
