Whats the best way to clean/sand cases?I broke my leg last week so I have a few weeks of nothing to do.I have the frame out of the motor ready to scrub it down. What do the factory bikes use that get it that shiney but not polished look?.Heres what im trying to go after.

I always use simple green and a green scotch bright pad. use a soft wire brush for the crevices. Always cleans everything up nicels without turning it into "bling"

If its really bad you can warm it up then use easy off oven cleaner, let it set for awhile then wash it off. That shit is pretty strong and does a good job.

I wanna know how you got the frame out of the motor?Huh

You can brush the cases with Scotch Brite together with WD40. After you finish with the cases, use a very small wire brush attached to a small drilling machine and do it all over again. This way you will get a very shiny finish. If you want to take it to the next level, use a good aluminium polish and a rag after you finish with the wire brush.

Another option is blasting the cases with salt. You can blast the engine assembled and clean it with water afterwards. You can get the OEM as cast finish this way.

Dogger315 on this forum knows a thing or two about this procedure

I use Purple Power When i was my bike and it gets it to the "New" Look. If you have some stuff thats still on there, you can always use brake parts cleaner.

On my 2-stroke I have used some really high count sand paper (in the 1000's) on the frame. Looked fantastic until I rode it. It doesn't last very long.

wow ok bud.. i understand who re-did the bike, it doesn't just magically look like that.. it's cleaned with something. you even said he "just re-did it"... so your basically telling me that if i have chad watts put titanium bolts and "re-do" my bike/motor it will magically look like that... its ok if you don't know how he got it to look so clean, I was just wonderin.

non chlorinated parts cleaner works great. Meguiars professional line of car products, has all purpose cleaner that works wonders and is soft on the bike. But to get it to look like brand new, gotta break it down and go part by part.

He is asking about how to get the cases so clean, not sure why everyone is getting smart with him.

Even if all the MONEY bought new cases, they wouldn't look like that. So it must have been the ELBOW GREASE, so I think he was asking what kind of ELBOW GREASE to use (as in products, methods, etc.). Not that difficult to understand....
