i was really surprised with all those flagwaivers, patriotic americans, that hate on the euro brand to a even dumb point.....
and not only on the brand, but also all the euro related "anything to do with it".........if only america would have its own leading brand i would understand.....
but i looks like ktm is now leading the american sales on off-road bikes, and that because it has been making a huge effort to suit their bikes to the specific use of the american costumer, they didn't drop the 2 stroke tech, they got the rear linkage, they have the xc line.........in racing they are improving their budgets when all other are down grading cuz of poor economy, they are changing their race bikes just to better suit the american rules, they are bringing their best riders in, as they are paying well americas best that got unemployed......from all that i've read around here ktm has the best costumer and post sales treatment in usa.......
still what we see from the so called true blooded americans, that allways find a way to make it very clear they are waiving the flag.......is hate and bash on the brand and all its euro implicants.......
all that to defend the , by them called, big 4 japonese brands.......!!!!!!!!!!
i really don't get the patriotic part of this........as didn't when i saw a statistic of the memorial day of the pearl harbor atack victims.....a lot of the proud patriotic americans went in their japonese cars....!!!!!
but then if something is from their historic allies and birthplace of most of their elders it gets only hate and disrespect......
as if it is not really a patriotic felling that drives them, but a much worst envy felling...!!!!!!!!! like the dog that bites that hand that feeds him.........

With all due respect, what the hell are you talking about? I don't think there's been a lot of KTM bashing here, and none of it that I have seen is directed at Europe. No, I think many of us wonder about the bike, because in the past it hasn't done well at American Supercross or Motocross. In any case, I'd have to nominate your thread to the dumgeon. And trust me: I'd nominate it even if you were from the US of A.

I am going to be super pumped when the KTM threads wind down in the coming weeks.

I think part of the reason why you see some serious racers (hardcore racers & enthusiast's alike) not having the respect for KTM as much as they do for the Japanese brands(the big 4), is because here in the States they (KTM) haven't really done a lot as far as titles go in AMA pro racing MX & SX.
I think they have a great team this year and they should be in contention for all titles...
But I also think they will have their work cut out for them. Wink
The big 4 have already been there & done that time & time again, over here & in the GP's...
I think KTM's stats in the GP's speak for themselves, they have a great record.
As for AMA pro racing MX & SX,the numbers just aren't there (1 125 outdoor title).

AMA Nationals & SX
GL in 2003 got them a 125/Lites championship....
Hanny was also in the running for a SX 125 championship...tied in points with GL,but lost it by wins.

World championships.
KR 2011 MX2
AC in 2011 & 10 MX1
MM in 2010 & sorta in 2009 MX2 (with the Honda switch).
Rattray in 2008 MX2
Townley 2004 MX2
Ramon 2003 MX2
Dobb in 2001 MX2
Langston in 2000 MX2
Parker in 1989 MX2
KINIGADNER MX1 1984 & 85 Champion.
MOISSEEV 78 & 77 MX1
MOISSEEV in 74 MX1
They also have won 7 MX3 world championships.

America's last attempt was the Buell. It never made it to production. Call it bad timing.

I never seen any photos ever posted online or anywhere else for that matter.
It was supposed to be a 450...with the engine being made by Rotax.

Ozzy worked on the project, here is a letter he wrote as a thank you to them.
http://www.racerxonline.com/2007/10/01/opportunity-lost-dave-ostermans-…

Here is an interview where he talks a little more about it.

How far did they get on production of the actual motorcycle?

We had a few mules that were done, and we had wheels, suspension and we were pretty far on our engines. It was exciting, and we were in the mock-up stage of how the thing would look. I had to sign a small phone book of confidentiality stuff, but all of the pictures are still in my head. But what they did is that they spent a few million to get where we were, and they were going to have to spend a few more million to get out of it. It was just a business decision—I don’t think it’s cold feet like some people wrote on the internet.

That had to be sad to see all of that work go for nothing.
It was. I’ve been around a lot and I hold my head up high, but Buell was an opportunity and I look at myself as being better from it. I learned a ton. I mean, literally, the guy right behind me was creating the brake pedal. It was just really cool.

It's not an insult, it's fact. You react to the marginal rabble almost always and then make blanket statements about Americans. That's dumb, unless it's intentional, in which case it's dumb and asinine.

By the time we pay each employee $40.00 even if all they do is put a sticker on rear fenders all day, the bikes would cost around $20,000 each.

That's bullshit reilly. One of your very first posts on Vital you made the generalized statement "that's why everyone hates Americans" and ever since then you continue to paint everyone with the same brush. I don't know if you are messed up because of translation or if you are just messed up.

I think it was mainly because they tried to innovate way to much right out of the box. Had they stuck to creating a frame to begin with and buying competitive components they might have had a chance.

This is not hypocritical... I think you suck, Chuck... I think you come here with a bad intention... You start your topics and your reactions are done with a slight of the tongue and your arms up for protection... You say things that get attacked... Why?... Because your intention is foul to start with... Jamma doesn't start like that, why do you?...

And what are the "facts"? It's tough to know when you're off your meds. Most of us are very interested to see how KTM does. A statistically irrelevant (near zero) population hates them because they are European. Nor does anyone buy a Japanese bike because of the Japanese people. We're all judging based on the bikes and on previous results. But thanks for your amazing insights: it's people like this that give Vital a bad name.

I really like KTM's, the problem is that the dealerships are few and far between, and the big 4 have dealerships all over the place. Quit being a whiner, my parents are from the Azores, and you whining for no reason is making them, and anyone else from there look bad.

That's changing, i'm seeing a lot of Jap dealerships closing down, that may eventually even things out, or at least close the gap.

There is a lot of negativity towards KTM from some people on here, but they are the ones that will look like fools after the 2012 season is done.

From the beginning you made the incorrect assertion "those flagwaivers, patriotic americans, that hate on the euro brand to a even dumb point..... and not only on the brand, but also all the euro related "anything to do with it".
Yes some Americans dislike KTM (I hesitate to use the term hate), I really doubt that has little to do with the country of origin. Just because "that hate on the euro brand to a even dumb point" but it doesn't mean that "they not only on the brand, but also all the euro related "anything to do with it".
I know of many Americans that like and own KTM's and none of us (the ones I know and am speaking of) "hate" anything just because it is European. You didn't expect to get flamed after making an absurd blanket statement? You should have!

Post a reply to: from all these ktm talk........
