To be fair, Fleetwood Mac would be tough to edit in to a bike test video.

Anything but that outdated flat biller junk. It wasnt that good when it was new, certainly not a good choice now.

Put Motogeezer in charge of the sound and you will get some interesting stuff to listen to.

Thin Lizzy Jailbreak would have been perfect for the video...

I get a kick out of how Jody and MXA are climbing on the anti-4 stroke bandwagon, and ranting about how they are looking out for the average motocrosser, blah blah blah. What a crock of shit. They were the ones ranting about how great the Yamaha YZ 400 was back in 98... Back when they were pro Yamaha and anti everything else.

Now they are saying how 4 strokes are satans bikes, and two strokes are king. They are dangling off KTM's nut sack. Its so blatantly biased, it can be hard to read at times. Ignoring that, MXA is a pretty good magazine for sure. A little less bias, and a little less of Jody trying to convince everyone that he is a genius... and a little less anti 4 stroke flag waving.... it would be print near perfect.

I agree that 4 strokes are expensive, and have hurt motocross in a bunch of ways.. but MXA wasnt on that page when thumpers invaded moto.

MXA is spot on in both their product and test evaluations. I don't get any of this grumpy old men stuff, even though I'm pushing 50 myself. Maybe they are hanging off KTM's nutsack b/c they are actually investing and improving 2 stroke tech while Yamaha raises the price every year on 6 yr old technology. Still great bikes, but come on. People said the same thing about MXA when Yamaha was winning shootouts for years, as was Honda, etc etc.

Dirt bike is a close second in this category, but the rest are shit as far as I'm concerned. I love RX for its content, and when I want to know about set up or about a bike I might buy, I go to MXA. And, if I had the bank I would buy a 150 or 250 KTM sx today. Never thought I would say that. Not sure if I would buy their 4 stroke, but their 2 stroke? Absolutely.

As for the music, I've heard worse. I realize their core group is aging but for me that video just wouldn't have been the same with Willie Nelson crooning in the background.
willie don't croon, bro.

I'm 53, and I've followed MXA, Dirt Bike, etc. since the first issues. MXA is the mag for racers who ride and race bikes, nobody does what they do. Racer X is for the fan boys, the twitter crowd, etc. That being said, I read both, I appreciate the work that it takes to produce each publication. Both Jody and DC eat, sleep, and breath MX.

Agreed!

If I'm looking to get a new bike or trying to find s certain setting I will go to MXA first

If I'm looking to see who is riding what, looking for new gear etc... Racer X/Transworld it is.

They both serve a different purpose but both sides are very useful.

This is the reason MXA is so valuable. They are no longer on the "4stroke bandwagon" as is stated in previous posts. They have changed and evolved over time based on the needs of the consumers. As the the decade of the 2000's came to an end, they assessed the effects 4-strokes have had on racing and riding and they are calling it for what it is. The benefactor is us....... The readers and/or consumers. MXA is not telling us what to think. Rather they are giving us relevant information so we can make informed decision.

Guys, I think this thing got derailed. The only point I was making was that a video that is geared to the younger rap, flat biller crowd isn't their target market, it's guys like us in their late 30's to 60's. My opinion is they should stick to that group and not try making rap MX video's, that's all.

Frankly, I thought it was pretty comical that they would even go there......

it does seem as though MXA is dangling on KTMs nutsack! LOL. frankly they handle like shit. mxa coined the term "euro feel" and now they try to say ktm's dont have the euro feel anymore, but they do.

rg4... I would have to say I agree mostly with what you are saying. I like MXA's honesty, and it sure doesnt change the fact that they are right. Its just the "Were here to save you" attitude... as if they werent the ones banging on the 4 stroke drum back when all this started to happen. Did they maybe not see the cost increases, and the reliability issues of the wound tight 4 strokes? Maybe... that could certainly be the case. However... that definately isnt the approach they are taking. They are taking the approach that they knew this all along, and that they saw it all before everyone else.

They are just seeing what we all are seeing... motocross getting crazy expensive, and bikes getting more complicated for the average kid to repair. They are on the same band wagon most of us are on. They arent the ones that figured all this out.

Excellent point mister. Thanks for the insight and thoughts on this. Smile

Hey Jody,
What are the best suspension and jetting settings for my 96 Rm80.
Thanks, Reader

Dear Reader,
I am not even going to ask your skill, weight, location, altitude, or temp, It doesn't matter because I have to sound smart here. (insert settings as if there are no variables here)

Jody
