Although I commend them for trying to get into the modern video age, the 20 something flat bill, rap crowd isn't their core audience......Laughing

Yeah MXA is like the Bible to the +40 crowd. They should just title the Mag, "Jody's Action". It seems like the opinion of one man dictates the purchasing of thousands of Old Timers...If Jody likes a certain product or hes friends with the owners, he can make them rich. but dont piss him off, he can also kill your product. there is a reason MXA is never happy with any bike. it makes money for their advertisers. they'll say "yeah this bike won becuz its the least flawed of them"...they have got everybody convinced that a new bike is not good enough, that you have to spen $1000 on suspension. they used to say dont even ride ONCE with a stock chain they stretch too bad. seriously throw away a new chain? and some people listen to that crap.

I'm 46 and I stopped reading mxa because of how snotty jody is. I like most of the info but not worth the attitude.

I like their bike tests as well, they tell it like it is.

As for the music, I've heard worse. I realize their core group is aging but for me that video just wouldn't have been the same with Willie Nelson crooning in the background.

All I can say is at 55 yrs. old the only way we used to get any moto info on a timely bases was Cycle News. And that didn't come with any music. Now we get so much moto info instantly. I actually thought the music fit the video nicely. I think there is a difference between music we actually listen to and music that goes good with a short video clip.I can't imagine how cranky Angry some of you all will be when you get my age.Whistling

Bunch of douchbags. They try to pass off their personal opinions as fact... crappy "journalism".

Funny how locals have a very different opinion of MXA. Apparently MXA's smokescreen of pretending to be impartial and telling it like it is helps some readers overlook the blantant promoting of Yody's buddies and their products, that at least half of their moto tests involve Yamaha's (including the video above), and that in spite of their rhetoric you're often getting the personal and highly subjective opinion of one rider who races only one track (REM). It's still a terrific mag, I am just tired of having to read between the lines.

I do not hate the music......IMO better than most videos.

As for personal opinions.....isnt that all any bike test is? All of the test riders personal opinion as to what they thought of the bike? Doesn't that then make it fact?

Every time I have met Jody he has been polite to me......just sayin

MXA is the best MX mag out there by a LONG shot. Only a fool can't recognize that.

I'm not saying that there are not things I disagree w/. But that isn't really the point.

They have the most informative articles. Those constant stream of articles about air filters, chains, rims, un-sprung weight, etc don't benefit any vendor, just the readers.

The bike tests are the most impartial. I swear many of the others just make the tests up after riding the bike once for 15 minutes.

Agreed. I've been a reader of Dirt Rider and Dirt Bike since the mid-80's when my dad paid for magazine subscriptions. For the past eight years I've paid for a Dirt Rider subscription. This year I canceled my subscription to DR and now I get MXA in the mail. The reason? MXA has content, and lots of it. And, MXA has balls. They call out the AMA on issues like Saturday only races, sound checks, fuel, etc. They don't refer to bike classes as Lites or SX class. Rather, they call the class what it is, 250 or 450 class. For MXA, there is no Motocross of Nations. Its Motocross De Nations.

Aside from the constant REM stuff which no one besides someone that lives in Socal cares about, I agree with you guys.

I just thought it really wasn't their thing to do a lame ass rap video. I thought they were above that. Leave that stuff for the Transworld MX crowd.

Rock - x2 ! and motoarmageddon you are almost right , MXA is not LIKE the bible,it IS the bible for the + 40 crowd. They were there from the beginning, just like us old bastards. Just like us, they saw the good, the bad, the indifferent and told it they way it was,and still do.

My response had nothing to do with your criticism of the magazine.

OldPro277-I can still remember reading the first issue of MXA during my high school science class. Also remember the day I bought the first issue of Dirt Bike Magazine......I was 15. Getting older sucks for the most part but I wouldn't change a thing especially missing the Vietnam War fiasco by the skin of my teeth.

Me too ,Rock. I couldn't believe that a magazine came out that was 100% moto! It was a perfect world back then. Blendzall and Klotz in the air , 40 man gates in the A classes (sometimes qualifiers to get there) these young guys have NO idea what it was like "back in the day" .

I know a few people who have done bike tests for the "others', and no, that don't ride the bikes once for 15 minutes. You're a fool if you really believe what you wrote.

So after other magazines report a rash of stolen camera equipment MXA starts doing videos...
Very interesting.
They should have stole somebody's Ipod while they were at it.
