It proved that a lot of countries had things to cheer about at the end of the weekend.

It also proved that you can't make all fans happy.

All the GP riders are hurt this year? All the US rider were hurt in 2009. We sent our 250 rider as MX1. And we still won.

everyone had some sort of moment even rv had a tip over, people had bad starts and were able to come through others crashed trying and it went from bad to worse,as the saying goes your only as good as your last race and team americas last moto was far too good.
paulin and searle both had good rides shame about dean hope its not too bad and he can ride the monster cup, TC again had a night mare as usual, Blake had his problems but never gave up,pourcel loosing his rear tyre was a real pity as i could see a good battle shaping up

So well done team USA you proved even in the face of adversity strong caracters can win through

I guess I have spent too much time out in the desert beating myself and bikes to death, but when you are out there, there is one quickest way back to the pits and that is on your bike following the trail. So suck it up and get it back in.

Dude needed to finish and I truly believe he could have got that bike back to the pits (I would love to see pics of his rear wheel but it didn't look to me like the tire was completely off the rim). It's sad for him, they probably wouldn't have won, anyway, but at least he would have finished the game.
By the time he would have limped it back to the pits, changed a tire and got it back on track he would have been well over a lap down. It was still early in the moto. When your worst finish is Marvin with a 12th or 14th, whatever it was, he wasnt going to get back that high in the standings. No matter what his score was going to be the throw away score for France.

Perhaps he wouldn`t be able to ride it to the pits, and if he cut across the track and went straight to the pits he would have been DQ anyway. His rear wheel foam tube was out of the tire.
lucero10x wrote:
So you are saying it was impossible for him to get to the pits? Or are you saying it wasn't that important to him?
A lot of riders in Europe are riding with "Bib Mousse's" or tubeless tires with foam inserts.

Ironic the ad says flat proof.

That was the pic I was hoping would surface. Ugly for sure. I take almost all of it back. He was effed, but a dude in a desert race or GNCC or enduro would have brought it back in to the pits...maybe...just sayin. Wink

And yes the MXoN did prove something.

It proved motocross is the greatest sport on the planet.
You go that right! Happy for Reedy's moto win as well. RV showed the world once again what a badass he is.

To get started, congratulation to America who won. I was at the race and what an awesome weekend!

Or was it France that lost it? I was at the race, and in that final moto, Pourcel was seriously hauling ass and pulling in on the leaders. Then bike problems... France only needed a top 5, if even, from Pourcel, who looked like he was going to challenge for the moto win. People can argue Bagget had 2 bad motos and USA still won, but it's his fault he crashed. Pourcel's problem was out of his hands.

Secondly, in the first moto Roczen was UNBELIEVABLE!! Roczen (17 years old) coming from a 6th place start, to catch and pass Dungey and finish 2nd on a 250 is just astonishing. I think Dungey's podium interview said it all, complaining about getting a bad start and having to battle through the pack - HE WAS 3RD ON THE FIRST LAP!! Sour grapes if you ask me...

Then, race 2. I thought Roczen was going to beat Villopoto this time!! Got past him but couldn't stay in front, . But what about Herlings?? This kid has just turned 17, first race on the "sh*t underpowered" 350 (words of Americans, not my own) and he beats your very own national champ? And being stuck in 3rd gear for the majority of the race?? All this is forgetting Paulin is an MX2 rider and beat them all, but hey...

Lets not forget Roczen lapping Bagget both motos either.

And I've already read the AMA vs. GP threads - a loada BS if you ask me. Cairolli's bars came off moto 1, and fell in the 3rd moto. Anyone who was there on the saturday would have seen Cairolli easily had the beating of Dungey.

Then let's look at the injury list of the GP riders who definitely would have been up there:
Frossard
Phillipaerts
Desalle
Nagl
Ramon
(Bobryshev was supposed to be out the rest of the season, but gave a spirited performance and showed his speed. He ran with the top AMA guys and is far from being the best in the GPs).

Already looking forward to next year and hopefully get a full gate with no injuries!! Call me a US hater, or call me a Europe fan, I just love the racing!!!!

Anyway, everyone knows team Ireland should have won... Wink
We won because we have a bajillion people living here. France lost because they don't have a bajillion people. Shit, errybody knows that..

HIS TIRE WAS OFF THE RIM.

USA had the best team, but didn't dominate.

You don't have to, you just have to win. Last year, they were somewhat lucky, this year they won by give or take 10 points.
We win every year I would call that domination. Isn't that how r c became the goat. winning race after race and dominating yes that is what america does to euros race after race

You guys lost, no matter where you are from, if you are not American... If you are American, you can say, we won the 2011 MXDN in france... If the GP riders are as dominant as you say, Then I say they all choked, sans KR , and that is why he is headed to America to race the 2012 AMA Nationals, and you are not....

X2. The USA kicked ass, that's all there is to it...

We won the MX1 and the MX3 overall, out of all the other riders, no one could knock Dungey and Villopoto out of their overall. 2 out of the 3 races it was an AMA rider to win... Reedy in the MX1/MX2 race, and Villopoto in the MX1/MX3 race...

Dungey got the MX1 overall, Villopoto got the MX3 overall... And next year Roczen will be an AMA rider... Then that will be all 3 overalls for the AMA.

And on top of that, Dungey was 5th the first lap... NOT 3rd... Paulin beat our national champ, and so did Herlings, but if you want to make excuses, it's because Villopoto started in 15th... That's 12 other riders he passed to get to 3rd... What does that prove? Him and Herlings both had caught Paulin by the end of the moto.

We won. Get over it.

The vast majority of US fans aren't posting in this or any other thread. GP fans seek consolation and try to find a way to change the outcome of the MXdN year after year. If they can't find the perfect excuse then they just start attacking US fans.

Why should we bother with this annual circle jerk anymore?

The problem with "what does it prove?" is that it raises a whole lot of BS about what people think, not what happened, and people will think what they want no matter what happened.

My point is, the "Europe" team has many more riders compared to team "America"... I was saying if we evened out the playing field and sent say 10 Euro riders and 10 US riders, it would be a much different story than the US just winning...

it's basically 3 vs the world as most people see it, and we continuously come out on top... Out of the other 12 or so countries in the A final, many Euros want anyone EXCEPT the US to win... But we continually beat them, and then they come up with more excuses.
9/19/2011 10:45pm
Every year I just assume the US is going to win but to keep the interest up I hope a non American wins the overalls for each class. Helps me cheer for something besides the obvious.

The one thing that the MXoN proved was that rain can really even out a lopsided playing field in MX. That is what made it anywhere near this close.

If it was a dry track, this would have been a complete farce. We all benefitted from the slick track, although the last moto it got drier and look what happened. The fact that the US was the ONLY team concerned with winning the overall event makes it all the more pressurized for them. No other team felt they even had a shot, not without at least 2 cases of misfortune for the US. Our guys were riding conservatively to try to avoid catastrophe, while the other fast guys could go all out to try and win their race, knowing they didn't have the team to win it and it wouldn't matter if they broke a wheel, radiator, tire, or triple clamps.

MXoN 2011 proved. That RV is on his game and is the best rider in the world at the moment,Herlings Roczen,RD,Reed the russian and many more showed that they are great when there on there game. Not much in it other than that. Its one hell off a race meeting.
