...can anyone beat America? And almost every year, the answer is no.

Now, I'm as much a rah-rah guy for my home country as anyone, but you have to be realistic. America is an affluent country of 310 million people. If you added up all the people in all the Western European countries, you'd have similar affluence and a similar number of people. But America picks three guys, and Western Europe picks three guys FROM EACH COUNTRY. They divide their talent among maybe 12 nations, where we consolidate ours.

A more even fight would be the US against a single team from Western Europe, another team from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, etc; a team from Eastern Europe; and a team from Asia.

As bad-ass as Blake and the Ryans are, they'd have a tougher time against teams like that. But realistically, it would be a fairer fight.
I have heard of making excuses when you lose but you hit a all time low by making excuses when we win, you are no better than the whiny little bitches who think they need to apoloigize to the world because we have a higher standard of living. The MXDN is about all the different countrys bring their best to one race and if you cant figure that out you are to fucking stupid to post on the subject. . So what is your excuse for the first 30 or so years that we lost the MXDN ???? RETARD!

Please define your higher standard of living compared to mine (for example).

Even the head of the AMA Motocross series, Davey Coombs made this point in the recent RacerX, "Team USA is the favorite, to probably no one's surprise, since many of the top riders from other countries are dinged up—and with the exception of Russia, they are all pretty much smaller, and with less talent to choose from."

Someone pick Roczen, Cairoli, and another fast guy from the MX1 series who resides in Europe, and compare the scores to the USA.

Solution? Have nine different American teams in 2012, racing for their individual region. lol
This will create a bigger problem as the US National Anthem will have to be played more than once on the Podium!!!!!

It's a sad day when you can't point out arithmetic and demographic facts without people thinking you're attacking their national identity.

What I said was a simple fact. If facts are insulting to some of you, maybe you have some pretty serious personal problems to solve.

It is not an individual race, it is a team race so the glass is completely full.

Some people lack intellectual skill. So when you try to start a proper discussion they will feel insulted and then say you are a communist.

People fear what they don't understand. And you cannot escape the stupidity of some vitalMX members Tongue

Team race Overall = USA (the only result that matters and the whole purpose of the event)

MX1 overall = USA
MX2 overall = Germany
MX3 overall = USA

Qualifying
MX1 = USA
MX2 = USA
MX3 = USA

So the USA won 5 of the 6 individual "titles/awards" and the only thing that matters, the team overall. And somehow you think they did not completely out ride the rest of the world this weekend?

If population really matters, you would see a clear trend in podiums and finish results at the MXoN. The fact that Belgium and GB have such a great history of results there shoot holes in this whole population thing.

It's easy to say "well, the US wins because of their population." That is until you start to notice that the trend doesn't seem to apply to any other country at the MXoN.

One thing I know for sure - you're no college professor. You can't even add.

Actually it was a good analogy.

Twelve regions you say?

Germany has 80 million people, is that 1/12 of USA?? No.
France 65 million, is that 1/12 of USA?? No.

So maybe three regions would make if more equal? So lets make one of the regions be California, Florida, Washington. Now the population is less than Germany and we still have the same riders.

Or maybe we could send a B team next year of: Barcia, Canard, Bubba.

Yeah, so you cherry-pick the states you want to combine. Florida, Washington and California? Not too familiar with maps, I see.

And it has nothing to do with national pride or lack of it. I'm pointing out a pure demographic fact. Why does America win every year? Because they combine their best talent into one team and the rest of the world splits theirs up. But in some years, it would have even been worse for the rest of the world - in the 80s, California would have had Bailey, Johnson and Glover. Johnny O'mara may not have even made the team.
Sorry, but David Bailey grew up and lived in Virginia. He may have spent a lot of time in Cali and does live there now but during his prime racing days he grew up at, owned, and had a house at Lake Sugar Tree, Axton, Virginia. Why do you feel such a need to apologize for the U.S.? Our president does enough of that for all 310 mil of us already.

I didn't equate doing arithmetic to apolgizing for the country. But I guess I don't carry around such a big chip on my shoulder coupled with such a fragile ego.

Everyone had their problems to today.
Everyone got to show off their speed.
MX is a mental,physical & yes a mechanical sport.
With that said,who came out the most dominate?
The results will answer that for you.

I think there should be a mixed FIM-AMA race, inviting the top 10 AMA riders, versus the top 10 FIM riders. Half a gate to make it fair for everyone. That way no one can complain about getting a 'bad' start. Just run 10 AMA vs. 10 FIM. Top finishing riders in both series at the end of the season. Think of it like the Ryder Cup of Motocross.

That is true, but mainly because our boarder policies or so lax that 1/3 of our country is starting to look more like Mexico than the United States. lol

Poor people here also own dirt bikes.
James Stewart came from nothing all the way to a Top Star in the sport.
His father talked of collection cans on the side of the road to get money so they could ride.
Where there is a will there is a way.

And yeah,if they wanted to ride bad enough...they would worry about dirt bikes.
Just as anyone else would.

So now we are a rich nation that is why we always win? Smile

It is not only USA the one that have a lot of inmigrants, thes countries I have named, have a huge amount of people from Marroco, Turkey, and Pakistan, and some of them do pretty well. Actually in Spain you can find a huge amount of people from Marroco and Central and South America, and even some of them have had some integration problems due to the differences in the culture, and our strupid goverment give the inmigrants more rights than to us Spaniards.... I dont think they play a big role in Spain not being at the same leve the countries I said before

Yes it does help.....
But you can have all the money in the world ...but without talent & the proper program you are not gonna cut it at the top level of the am's or in the pro's.

Italy was missing a key rider (Philliparts), Germany (Nagl), Belgium (everyone). Despite the lineup today, France almost won, Italy had bad luck or might have been on the podium. Are team has a lot of talent, but as RV said between motos "we could use a little luck come our way..." I think between Italy crashing out and CP going out was the luck that came our way.

Here in Spain the riders we have in the GPs used to go to Holland and Belgium while kids to have better tracks and races with better riders so they could raise their level. Campano and Barragan went to live to Belgium when they where 18 or 19.... Butron went to race ADAC in Germany while school holidays during summer. If you dont race with faster riders than you..... you are not going to improve
