That's most likely what will happen, with the 2003 mxDn being the exception to that rule of course. I have seen with my own eyes where at least one of the team members of the US brainfarts, only to see team France, or Italy topping that x 2! Smile

Damn, this will be awesome!!!

your right, with all that supercross racing for half the year, Those tracks are so long and wide open, that won't help at all.
Well Pourcel has won 2 regional SX championships, and Paulin has gotten like a 6th once in a race. Yeah, The Ryan's SX stats pale in comparison to those two gems right there. And look Pala was a super fast track apparently and what did the Americans do there? Bagget only got a 2nd! Compare that to Musquin's 3rd and obviously the Americans don't stand a chance. Fast track / Slow track it doesn't matter, French have it in the bag.

It's hard to bet against the US, but to say they are unbeatable is going too far. Baggett might be the weak link, then there are mechanicals, crashes, shitty starts, etc. that can come into play for any of the riders no matter how good the team is. Besides, home track advantage has got to help the French team, and Musquin, Paulin, and Pourcel are no slouches. Don't think for a second that Pourcel especially isn't hungry for redemption by proving all the naysayers (especially American ones) wrong!

This is a smart statement. Both Cairoli and Reed got taken out in the 2nd moto in 2009. There are variables that are beyond your control that can bite hard. On a pure speed and racing level, I'm not worried in the least about our boys--it's those "unknowns" and "uncontrollables" that worry me. On the other hand, if someone's bike blows up or someone gets taken out the way Reed or Cairoli did in 09, there is really nothing to be done about it.

This is a dogfight, the participants are almost all aces, and they are all riding the "fighter jets" of the motocross world. Should be good.

Both Ryans' are so damn good, that if they start dead last, they would still end up top ten assuming thier bikes are ok. The risk of than happening is unlikely, and the weak link is Bagget who should for sure get an overall top ten, and if doing good still could win because when he's riding good he's really fast.

One thing to maybe consider is that the field is less than it's usually, as in depth. Many of these riders (?) or at least some wouldn't normally qualifying for a Nationals of GP, but because their country has one or two fast riders they anyway might end up in the A-finals, so the top guys might even have a better chance to climb up if they screw up the start?

AC will come with a vengence to show the 2 ryans what type of speed he has. The Us boys are faster in SX but MX euros can hang. Its going to be a great weekend of racing.

i guess he deserved a bit more cheers from his own team fans......this way he will have a huge weight on its shoulders on sunday....this atitude of us fans to only bragg on the 2 ryans could bild the weak point on the team.... i think the kid really needs his nation moral support, he's on the tougher spot of the 3....!!!!!!

Bagget's the weak link? If that's the case, then I think we will do pretty darn good.

Anybody else notice how dry the track looked today? Shouldn't they have been soaking it for a long weekend of racing.

OR-

Did they not realize the Ryans went tooth and nail on a dry Steel City just two weeks ago. Baggets good on the dry too.

Only way we don't win is if there is a wreck/mechanical, or it rains. No way anyone beats the Ryans straight up. The only one that can is racing trucks and is also from the US.

I don't KNOW who is going to win this year. But,I think if we were all completely honest, there is one thing that all of us from every country could agree on.We would all be SURPRISED if the US doesn't win again.Wink

Didn't you make a similar post last year before MXDN then disappear from vital for a few months?

the verbal diarhea that people come up with in some strange effort to discredit the US's chances at an MXdN title absolutely blows my f*cking mind. I live in a foreign country, so i deal with anti-american rhetoric everytime i try to order a beer. but to see it spill into the motocross scene, on a US based site just makes me vomit.

Just watch Pala , BOTH motos.Their pace through the pack after bad starts was jaw-dropping. AC can run it I hope because it will make for a great race. The rest of those guys I doubt it. I cant wait to see Roczen and would be surprized if Wilson beats him.

I posted to a similar thread the other night. This is racing (albeit a really BIG race) and anything can happen but barring any bad luck the US should be on top of the box. I'm not putting down the euros or their speed/skill. I just think the Ryans are two of the most gutsy and determined riders in the sport at the moment. I can't comment about Bagget because even though he's had a good season, he's a rookie at the Nations. I'm sure he'll do his dead level best. Other nations have excellent/awesome riders and if they didn't then this wouldn't be so exciting and captivating. Let's get this thing started and all enjoy the worlds best doin' it in the dirt. (Hope all the guys wear as much protection as possible cause St. Jean is a rocky mofo).

I won't be surprised if France wins. I think it would be cool, actually. I was at Namur when they won in 2001 with Demaria, DV12 and Seguy. But you gotta like USA's chances. I think they have less pressure than the French team (not to mention that RV, RD and BB are not exactly slow)

BTW: I love when mohammed stirs the pot. Ha ha!
