Dungeys moto 2 lap times!

Edited Date/Time 1/24/2012 6:13pm
No disrespect to RD's ride and effort but I was surprised to see that his fastest lap time was slower than Brayton, Barcia and Metty! Yes I know conditions were different and he was following traffic all race but Mettys fastest was on lap 12, 3/4 of the way through the race. Again no disrespect to Rd as his ride was one of the greats, just surprised!http://americanmotocrossresults.com/data/2011/10/450_m2_ind.pdf

Ok, you do see that that is just one lap for Metcalfe and Brayton and all the rest of the laps Dungey was quicker? And that`s coming through the pack. BTW, did you see the lines he was taking to avoid people?

Look at the average times.

Barcia was the only rider with a faster average lap time...which is just nuts!

How do you expect him to set a blazer when he was passing 2-3 riders a lap?

And the leaders were getting the blue flag to help with lappers. Dungey didn't get that help and had to pass them without them slowing down or pulling over.

From lap 2 to 15, dungey was a total of 40 seconds faster than Villopoto.

Villopoto was owned this week end even though he increased his lead. Smart but I like RD's bravada better...

Not only did RD have to pass the guys without the help of a blue flag, but I'd be willing to bet that most of the riders he passed thought that they just got lapped by RD and that they missed the blue flag, so they were watching more carefully for it when Barcia and the other leaders came through. It always seems like the guy in first has the most issues with lappers, since after he comes through the lappers are aware that the front guys have caught them. Thanks to RD, Barcia didn't have that issue.

That was only one lap man. You didn't need a stop watch to see how RD pulled out in front of Barcia , and then gapped him......in traffic! Riding all the way up to 7th place after being almost an entire lap down.....that is an incredible ride!!

if Dungey pulls out on track 10 seconds ahead of Barcia....then proceeds to pull away from Barcia....that tells me Dungey was the fastest guy on the track. I don't need to see lap times.

I'm not even a Dungey fan and I can tell you right now, if he loses this Championship...It will not be his fault. He should be about 20pts ahead of everyone leading in to the last 4 motos.

Let me tell you that you had to be there to appreciate how far back he was. I was cursing Suzuki and watching pit road for his bike to come. When he finally got it I thought he might get top 20. Couple more laps and he would have got Alessi. RV isn't beating him for this title, Suzuki is

I wish people would stop making comments like this! Where people are on the track, who is in the points lead, weather conditions, and team orders, all affect lap times and finish positions. Dungey ran an incredible race under the circumstances and lets just commend him for that instead of demeaning some other rider. I could say more, but I'll
leave it at that.Sad

Really?

No ones demeaning other riders here. You should just be thankful and proud that your nephew's speed/performance is the benchmark for others to be compared to.

pretty sure the only reason Barcia's average lap time was faster was because of Dungey's disasterous first lap.

Average lap time is figured from lap 2 on.

Your right - my bad. Looking at the lap times though, one of his worst lap times was lap 2.

No worries, and I agree...from lap 3 on Dunge's average was definitely faster.

In the Post-Show interview, Metty said that by the halfway point of the second moto, a good race line had formed on the track and "if you where in that line it was clear sailing, but you couldn't get out of it.". Dungey was passing 2-3 guys a lap, and was out of that preferred line a lot. The interview is at the end of this vid:

How was that demeaning of Villopoto? He rode a smart race!

My point is that even Villo cruising is still super fast, so how fast must Dungey have been going to close up 40 seconds on him!

If you still have a problem with me pointing that out then please, say more.

Watch lap 2 again. Dungey was very tentative. I couldn't tell if the bike was hosed or if he was simply tentative because he did not do the sighting lap and was still just checking out the track.
