This sux. Sure I don't know the details, and maybe the track should put in a bigger effort to check ids'. But nevertheless I hope the word is being spread about this specific family so other tracks in the area can help them out in preventing any further injuries in the future?

I brought up he is a fireman because he should know the risk and should have taught his kid better,

Most the Firemen I know are good Men, I'm sure there are good and bad just like any walk of life.
I know a lot of Fireman too. They play the system for everything they can get.
And when I say "play the system," I do mean cheat and over exaggerate every little injury, to collect the maximum disability and paid time off.

Don't blame the player. There's something bad with a system if what you claim is true, which might be the case. Many people are greedy assholes and I'm sure they don't cluster within the firemen squad.

What needs to pointed out that "these people" are not winners in the end. One might think they win, as in the new car or whatever, but they don't. I mean what's the point with $20 k in the end if everybody thinks you are a dick, and you deep down know that's the case as well...

A long time track owner in our state told me something I originally thought was the stupidest thing I've ever heard, however I'm starting to change my mind. He told me he would NEVER consider having insurance on his track. He has an LLC that owns the land and owns nothing else, he also has another LLC that leases the land from the other LLC.

Why does he not have insurance you ask? If he gets sued he goes bankrupt and opens up tomorrow under a new name. Also no lawyer wants to try and squeeze blood from a turnip, however if they see a big juicy insurance policy they are definitely going to go after it.

We lost Honda Hills a few years ago because of a similar deal.

Burn the whole country to the ground and start over. Only way to fix things.

that supercross track looks awesome. What a shame.

Oh, and that RMZ photo is a perfect example of why I run twinwall renthals, and a crossbar. I'd rather bend a fork tube or triple tree, then snap a bar like that. I have a buddy who's 7/8's renthal's snapped landing in a turn a couple years ago. He was lucky he didn't get seriously injured. word to the wise. Always check your bar clamps for sharp edges, and pay attention to possible metal fatigue if you are using a single wall bar. after a couple little crashes, it is safer to replace it then risk it.

He is finally back on his feet. He had basically blown up both of his feet but the docs put it back together really nice. He actually called and said he was goin to come out and ride soon. I'll see if I can get a picture of the xrays.

Great pics Neil. Never saw those before. Yeah, that RMZ was my buddy's and he didn't even go down that hard. Almost looked like a flaw in the metal. That was a fun day.

The SX track is at Motoland and that place is still open.

Bmoto and I saw him go down, and it just looked like a low speed front-end tuck. We saw him pushing the bike back, and I just figured he threw a chain. Weird deal for sure.
Agree, that was a fun day, and I wasn't even riding... Good folks in AZ

Track is on Indian soveriegn land? Is he suing in tribal court? State civil courts generally (generall) don't have juridiction over what happens in Indian nations.
You are right FTE, I am a Native American and you can't touch them without going though the Bureau of Indian Affairs and a bunch of red tape.

I have it from a reliable source (very reliable) that the story is this: 17 year old goes to the track with his buddy and lies and says he is 18 and signs the waiver. Gets on his QUAD and wrecks. Breaks knee and hurts his shoulder. Dad sues, gets tossed out of court, but the Tribe is nervous and has closed the track indefinitely, if not permanently. One kid just screwed countless riders. It looks as if their races will be raced elsewhere for the end of this season and probably 2012. So that doesn't look as if there are plans to reopen. What really sucks is some pro riders were designing and had begun the process of building a supercross track there.

Tell them to go over old waivers and try to find one with the dads signature. If this kid has been there before, he may have had his dad go with him at times.
Those waivers aren't worth the paper they are written on if its your land you are responsible no matter what yes its shitty but thats the way it is. If someone comes to your house and falls down the stairs they can sue you. We had a track here that was open in the early 90's and while the owners were on vacation someone broke in and was riding with no helmet and crashed. They had to get lifeflighted out his insurance company sued the track owners and won. You are respoinsible for your property simple as that

Not their land. Indian land. Big difference. You aren't suing the Indians. It was also thrown out of court, but the Tribe decided to close it because of this situation. Perhaps they will eventually decide to reopen. It just suck because the guys running it weren't slacking in the safety department. Why can't we sue dad for negligence, since he obviously couldn't control his kid? Turn around is fair play...

If I were on a jury I would want to know who owns the quad. If it is a the kid's then here's your waiver right there.
