he said he would like a second rider next year so perhaps its to do with that and keeping the factory bikes, if he got the factory bikes sorted then he would have a good bargaining tool for signing a second rider

I honestly can't see Honda letting him go. I think he is simply trying to finalize the parameters of the deal. Just a guess, but Honda would be really dumb in not giving him a good deal. After all, he probably did more positive advertising for their bike, without pay, than anyone.

No matter what what color the bike is, I bet there are some non typical outside sponsors waiting in line, with cash, to splash their logos all over his rig, bike and gear.

I must admit a year ago I could not stand Reed at all and probably wouldn't have even opened this thread it just seemed to me that he wasn't riding for the right reasons he didn't seem to even want to be riding anymore and didn't look like he was trying as hard as everyone else and he wasn't running the pace. now fast forward to today and I have more respect for reed then any other rider after starting his own team he is actually having fun riding again and it shows on the track which I think has motivated him to train harder and his attitude has gotten a lot better and I think if Honda lets Reed switch brands after the amazing outdoor season he is having and being probably the favorite rider on the track besides K-Dub they would be cutting their own throat and Chad looks great on the Honda he throws that bike around like its a damn 125 so I can't see him wanting to switch he looks REALLY comfortable where he is I don't see it happening.

Some of the references as to Who went Where and Why are off the mark a bit.

Sometimes these guys leave of their own choice...or due to the influence of the "mgmt" else-where.

Jus' like you see right now...well...not necessarily w/ Chad; but, you 'll see what I mean in October.

The very same guy that's causing a bit of a stir/change...right now...has done it before.

Hell, you've got a rider on one brand riding really well due to the influence of a mgr on another brand (common reference, here, too). Why? Because it will be good for said mgr, next-year...&...because he's that good, too.

Eric Kehoe and Honda management have no other riders, at the moment, who can give them race wins or a legitimate run at a title other than Chad Reed.

you'd think that Honda would be going out of their way to make Reed happy.

I was talking to a guy at the track today, apparently the 2012 Hondas are not going to be homologated so he's trying to line up some sponsors to support him on his old 05 YZ250. Blame the AMA and that DC fukker!.

I agree, I doubt he would change but you never know....and it doesnt matter if Dungey goes to KTM or not...fact is he likes the honda so why change....to me it looks like JS is going yellow not Reed

And dont forget JGR they are looking like changing, they could well be Yellow too....or Red...oh or Orange, ok ok or Green! lol

You cant compare a 1997 Suzuki RM250 with a Honda 450......that suzuki was the biggest pile ever made.....

The '97 a pile? Youre wrong on that point. I raced a '97 RM250 for two years straight in scrambles, and trust me I crashed that poor bike relentlessly into trees and it ran for hour & hours in the hot Texas woods, and it never once let me down mechanically. It did have the oldschool style fork orientation, but as I recall they were twin chamber design and worked great. Only nitpick would be the ridiculous purple shrouds and bad waterpump location - but it never failed either so that was a non-issue anyway.

How many '97 RM250s did you own and race ?
