What a great shot! I was there and wondered out loud if anyone ever realizes what style and speed this kid has since he rarely gets props for anything..Reed was great in those ruts, RV was fantastic but RD was, well a step above the rest. And thats coming from a Dungey hater!
Those ruts were crazy but what was even crazier was when the top two or three women went though those things as fast as they did! I told my buddy that i would be riding around the outside and no way i would even attempt to stay in 2' deep ruts at full tilt!

He looked awesome this weekend, working the bike superbly.

I remember when RC used to corner like Dungey and it was the coolest thing i could imagine doing on a dirt bike. Since then i have tried to lay it into the corners like him but no matter how hard i try, it never works out on the track like it does in my mind. Its damn hard to do what these guys do and maybe a handful can do what RD does with a bike but its poetry in motion to me. How can anyone not appreciate these guys talent?
That Dungey guy is pretty good, didn't he win a championship last year when no "good" racers were in the running? How then did he win a race against the best riders this year? Thats weird?
Awesome picture, although I could recreate that picture myself. Just lay it over, stick the leg out and easy peasy, killer shot
Seriously though, maybe that's why he layed it over. His front brake HAS to be engaging there and those ruts are hard enough without the front wheel trying to stop.

BTW, anyone notice the tear off issues again????
modulating/dragging the front brake in deep ruts is the key to going so good through them... It keeps the front end in the rut and the power drives you through... It doesn't make sence, but it works...

not that I disagree with that depending on the turn...but, Dungey doesn't have a finger on the brake in the pic above.

Look at the firrst pic at the top, look all the way to the left, the guy is standing straight up and down, I don't think the pics been turned, I just think that the berm (bowl turn) is just that elevated ! It's an awesome pic by the way...

wasn't it Stewart that was wanting them to groom before and between motos a few years ago?
i'm glad they dropped that process, nothing like watching the best in the biz work through mid-thigh ruts for 35 minutes.
