Since this old thread has been revived, here is a mini-report on the 2011 Millville Memorial Weekend bash:
For both days of racing:
- at least 12 in the +50 class

- 7 in the +55 class(which was combined with 14 +40B "kids")

- 2 in the +60 class

Next year, Sept 2012, I will be qualified for the +60 class

Keep On Moto-ing!

Back in 1998 at the ISDE in Australia there was a guy who rode by the name Sos Goddard who was about 65 and he rode off road nationally for about 10 more years.
I ride with guys from my club and around the area all in there late 50's to mid 70's. Not always the fastest but always the smartest riders. I'm 46 all my kids and there friends ride and its getting harder as they get older to stay in front of them but its easy to pass them as there get off the ground.

I hope I'm riding for at least another 20 plus years. Why give up the best sport in the world to retire because I should no betterCool

My Pa raced well into his mid 60's. He can still work me under the table and he's now in his 80's. We street ride all the time and he has a Kawasaki Ninja. Cool dude, I hope I'm in that good of shape when I'm 60, let alone 80.

I'm 56 yrs. young. raced a lot in the 70's and 80's. I still ride but it's on the street w/my harley. I really miss racing. I'd love to get back into it again but I don't like 4 strks. I guess to ride or race these day's (esp. race) it has to be a 4 strk. or can you race a 2 strk. in the vet classes. let me know. somebody.
I just raced my YZ250 at Milestone on Sunday, 2 -2 for 2nd overall in 52+ Intermediate.

The Over the Hill Gang MX Club would be just the place for you. Cool

I will be 61 in July and still ride every weekend if possible. Didn't make the RacerX senior series in Walnut last year. Will try again this year. I know I can win it. Maybe I will see you there Highsider. Rode at your track some years back.

My pops is 65 and will ride until he dies, no doubt in my mind. Props to all of them.

Gimme a date.
I made it to the re-scheduled race there last year.
We like the place!

Jerry Bumgardner on a CRF250, rocks the +60 class. He was there last year. He can sometimes get ahead of me...hehehe.

Hmm if Jerry rocks in that class maybe i should drop the +40B and +45 classes and go back to the old mans class cause i rock it over Jerry when i raced it! Wink Not sure if i will see you at Millville this year Highsider as i am going in for a stomach rebuild in a few weeks and then a two month recovery. I am going to the national at thunder valley though, maybe see you there?

i met a vet rider this past weekend that gave me some insight on racing and life. he said to pull a tape measure out to 76 inches. that is the average life span of an american male. then put your finger on your age. seeing where you are puts a new meaning on living life to it's fullest. i'm 61 and i'm still living the dream. moto on boys. dbm
Wow, I'm sure you meant that to be inspirational but that really bummed me out. Being 48 and all.

You may want to try a local Vintage race in your area....ARX and Calvmx run close to you....they have a class for any year bike and size bike, vintage or modern. They run primarily vintage classes, but do have Modern support classes too. Several guys like to ride both, and most of us are just looking to run a few good laps with friends, not earn a factory ride. Might be a good place to start. Both have web sites, check them out....

That's Nolan Buyer on the left, and he is pretty damn fast in the SuperMini class.
Thats Bill Naylor... Not Bob. My grandpa just turned 70 and still rides once a week at minimum. Hopefully I'll be walking at that age, let alone race.

Before anyone jumps all over me... I'm completely joking. I have tons of respect for anyone that races/rides mx into their 40s, 50s, 60s +. I think it's cool as hell and I hope I can do the same.

All people do not have saggy nut sacks with age. Keep them tidy whities tight and you will be happier later in life.
