Best way to care for an infant while at the track?

What's the best way to defend my 7 week old little dude from all the noise at the track? I hate to deprive him of all the braaps but I think it's a little too loud at the local track for him still. I don't feel comfortable jamming an earplug in his head and haven't seen any earmuffs that aren't huge.

PS; I'm not complaining about noise levels in the sport, etc etc, blah blah. Just trying to care for my dude until he's old enough to enjoy all the braapage.

Babysitter. There's no reason to take him to a race that he has no chance of remembering. If you have to though, I suggest finding something to protect his ears. I'm sure there's ear muffs small enough if you don't like putting ear plugs in him.

I have to agree , leave him with a sitter.

Or buy some of that wax they use for swimmers and put it in his ears, you know he won't leave anything in his ears or on them so maybe not such a great idea for him to be there.

At that young age, I would recommend having an RV for the little guy to stay in and only bring him out for a small amount of time. Too much dust and crap flying around at a moto event for little guy to be breathing at such a young age. Maybe when he is 4-6 months old and his lungs are a little farther along, but I would still want to keep them in an RV for most of the day. That kid that Reeds wife is holding is a little older than a couple months, but it does show that you can buy ear muffs small enough to fit an infant.

You also have to be careful not to let them get to hot. Their little bodies don't work like ours do yet ad they can overheat and get sick very easily. Motorhome, or leave them at home.

Leave the little man home. Moto track is not the place for a 7 week old. If you can't get a sitter, you stay home with him.

we got my son the infant earphone protection and pretty much hopped in the pickup and went racing. He was about 4 months and is now 7 months and he loves it. the bikes put him to sleep and he usually has a great day. i am very protective of my son but i don't see any reason why he shouldn't be with you. except the obvious, sun, dust etc. and i just did purchase a toyhauler to use from here on out for the little man. btw did i mention that even though i have lived for mx my entire life, me and the boy will be doing bmx instead.... good luck!

Yep...what Sondy said. Many of the riders that race the amatuer nationals have younger siblings and they all do fine.(and we spend a whole week at the races) Sunscreen is of utmost importance!!

I dont care what you say....this sport is not worth even the "chance" of something happening to a newborn....I am not saying that once they get like 4-6 months old...go for it, drag them around....but 7 weeks old? come on thats a little young...in my opinon....

BUT, its not my kid....so like everyone else said, earmuffs, sunscreen, and just keep a good eye on him......

It wasn't dumb, I have a different mindset when it comes to the races then you obviously, I been going to the races since I was born, both my kids 23 & 18 have gone to the races since they were born, get over yourself and start spending more time at the track and maybe then you can be a little nicer and not such on an asshole on this board.

I started racing in 1974 and raced for 35 years and never "not had a choice to go to the track" when my boys were born I made the choice NOT to go race at times because it was the right thing to do. I do have a different mindset because I put the kids first and my selfish need to go racing second.

The irony is thick with this one . . .

To the OP, Leave the 7 week old at home. If you can't find someone to watch him for you, stay home with him. You'll be glad you did. You two have a lot of days at the track in your future.
