"Not comfortable on the bike" could be said out of context for a person still learning english. He could of meant not comfortable on any bike as in he still needs to feel better himself. Hope all is good with the team.

I'm not the one that said it, i was just explaining it a little more. I think what he sould've said is that, the bike is very differnt than most bikes and it dosen't work with some people AKA james stewart.

Again, he won a decent amount of SX's with that bike this year. Holy shit, some people.

I believe we had a similar discussion back when RC left Kawasaki and went to the Honda, and people were making all kinds of crazy speculation because of the odd way RC had the CR set up.
What most people fail to realize, is that while some riders are super fast and talented, it's a whole other leap up the staircase to get to RC's, James', Chad's, RD's and RV's speed. To say that because a bike works for JT$ (no offense, JT) it should be fine for RC is silliness...actually it's stupid. When a rider makes that next step up in speed, everything that was before is no longer applicable, because the overall speeds have increased. That's like say because a bike works for the average local expert, it's fine for Chad Reed...stupidity.
So because a bike feels ok or works for Millsaps, does not mean it feels good for someone else, there are too many variables.
A comfortable at speed bike is like a good tailored suit, it's made to fit you and only you...you're height, arm length, inseam, cuff and more. It's not going to fit someone else, and even if you make some adjustments, there's no guarantee it still will fit as good on him as it did you.
It's just stupid to say "because it works for him, it should work for you"....it's attitudes and thought processes like that that have made some of the biggest names in the sport move on to another team.

I guess I find it hard to believe that with the resources that top riders have available to them, they can't get any brand of bike set up 'right'.

You see it in road racing (motorcycle), auto racing and almost every form of motorsports, where a certain rider/driver just cannot meld effectively with the machine. Is it a product of the machine itself or the relationship of the racer and the team, who knows, but we have all seen it at one time or another in our years of racing and watching racing, which is why once that racer gets to another team or brand, he excels.
How many times have you or one of your friends changed bike brands, only to reflect back on how poorly the last bike felt or rode compared to the present one?

Its just ,before the problems, all the talk from DV on here and CP ,they meshed and loved the bike.Things were going well which I thought would mean they were ready for 30 + 2 motos. The first two races showed they were'nt.Hopefully the rumors are
not true.Really enjoy watching him ride.

I'm voting "mental".

Again, mental...the "new" syndrome or the last bike was outdated or dare I say, not set up properly.'

Mental is a BIG part of it so I don't discount it but it's not the same as 'can't get it set up right' atmo.

Could be the case with CP sure, but so far there's NO FACTS whatsoever that supports CP isn't happy with his bike...

Since so many have speculated, I'm doing my shit for brains angel. Maybe a money thing, CP was maybe thinking a top five would be a walk in the park, and when facing reality as in him being out of shape, maybe he got seconds thoughts? Pulling of with arm pump smells lack of training for me.

Again, there's no evidence something bad is going on, and here we are on page 5 and still no facts, no info from either DV, CP or the media...

Amazing...

Not always mental, some racers just don't feel right or comfortable on certain machines or teams.
You want to call that "mental" then you need to figure that every dick boss or bitch girlfriend you ever had was a "mental" issue on your part.
They were fine, you were the problem

Shit just doesn't always work out and some situations or machines aren't comfortable.

None at all and I am not addressing CP, I was addressing the point that since a bike works or feels good to one rider, another rider should feel good on the same bike as well, which is stupid.

I think being who they are, their opinions have a higher chance of being correct than the average MX fan. Their opinions also hold more of a false truth in them for the very same reason.

If it is the bike, I don't think it's solely because it's a Yamaha. I think it's lack of testing which results in a sub-par bike setup. That reflects on him not signing until the last minute.

There are very few people out there in the first few nationals completely comfortable and have the perfect bike setup. For him to pull off because of the bike is unacceptable. The only way stopping a race due to the bike is obvious situations like Dungey has this year. I wish he'd be honest and say he just couldn't handle the Texas heat.

Well said EID.

A whole lot of Monday quarterbacking on this thread. How many people on this thread have raced the pro class? A lot of analyst on this thread who do not have a clue about injury recovery, MX fitness, bike set up, and factory bikes.

So what happened with what CP said that " The rear shock was seizing up" ? Last week , I think even DV said when he first pulled off , the rear shock was locked up , or locking up some how , but after he got it back to the pits , cooled down , there was nothing wrong with it. Hopefully....whatever it is ( him or the bike ) they get it sorted out for next weekend. If it's just CP......then it's gonna take him a few rounds to get his ass into shape for a 30+2 moto.

Nobody knows anything for sure. It's all speculation and opinion by everyone at this point. I personally don't have Pourcel's number so no he didn't tell me.

We know it wasn't a major bike malfunction. So that kind of narrows it down to either not feeling comfortable on the bike and pulling off, which is inexcusable. Or being tired and pulling off, which is also inexcusable but I can understand not wanting to end up like Metcalfe did.

If a top guy pulls out like that I think he should at least say a reason why. He owes that much to his sponsors and team. In my opinion he was just tired and the heat got to him.

Anymore questions?

For the training types out there.... How fast can CP realistically get into race shape? If we use last weeks moto as a yard stick & presume he can last 20 minutes at top 3 speed.. 2 months? 6 weeks? 4 weeks?
