The 2005? How's it running? Good I hope.

I'm ready for another RM250. I miss the 2 stroke.

I flagged it last year and I am flagging it this year. It is a freaking blast dude. Get a pit pass and show up on Friday early evening. I met Dungey, Tony and Mike Alessi, Justin Brayton, Josh Grant, Pourcel, Reed, etc......I met a bunch of the riders and I have pictures of me with them to prove it. While I was flagging, GuyB walked by and I took my picture with him, as well! Get beer before you get in Pennsylvania. They make you buy a case at a time!
Smile ...sounds like a great time

Your going to High Point and you are worried about buying less then a case? I don't understand? In fact I am not sure they will let you in the gate with less than 24 beers!

Tickets ordered and hotel booked! Pumped! I will be leaving from Cincinnati, Ohio Friday June 10 around 4:30 PM and arriving at the hotel around 9:30 or 10:00 PM. I bought the $15 pit passes and $35 General Admission tickets for Saturday.
Ya about that..did u end up paying $37.50 a ticket?? I bought mine for unadilla and I bought 6 of them and I ended up paying $37.50 EACH because of a handling charge or something..kinda pissed to say the least. I could see that charge once, but not for every ticket...i saved $2.50 per ticket off the price at the gate, almost not even worth it.

stay in Morgantown..all the Pro's stay there.
Go early and visit Racer X.
and go early on Sat morn to avoid the traffic on that little road.
huge vendor row, lots of good food, great view nearly anywhere.
bring an umbrella or a rain coat (just in case)

but what I really miss is the Racer x partys on Sun night after the races.

What Dave says, 'specially the last bit. Fishbowl was fun.

Definitely one of the best. Go.

I'm from Cali and was in Pittsburgh on business, had some time to kill so I drove down to High Point about two weeks before the National in '09. The place looks awesome! I would love to get back again for the race....maybe some yearWink

Everybody complained about the traffic at Pala but that road in and out of High Point looked way worse! It's SUPER narrow and windy. It is really scenic but it seems like it would take HOURS to get everybody in and out on that road. What's it like on race day??

It's tough to get in and out on raceday but worth every minute of it.

Great track.
I raced a LL qualifier in a foot of mud a few years back. that place gets really slick. Timmy Coombs was there racing a 500 two-stroke. He lapped me on the third lap I think.
(I thought it was DC the whole time too).

Great time, just bring sunblock! I've been going for basically my whole life so im really hoping this isn't the last year because I only live about 12 minutes from the place, so thats pretty damn convenient...Wink traffic all depends on which way you decide to follow.... if you come from the mt. morris exit your basically screwed. WV and SW PA are all about takin the back roads in!

Yes I paid $37.50 as well.

So you can bring your own food and drinks into the park? Also do you guys recommend going in from the WV back roads? I am staying in Morgantown, WV. I plan to head to the track Saturday around 8:00 AM because I purchased the pit passes which are good from 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM...

My best time was a few years back. We met up with one of the motocross teams at a bar and ended up taking them to another bar. I was stuck in the back of an suv with a 2 time national champ. It was cool to say the least. During our bar hopping ran into an fmx rider that was out by himself. He knew some of the guys that got a ride with us. We ended up in a stripclub and the fmx guy got bounced for improper interaction with the ladies.

Typing this on my cell phone so ignore the shitty grammar. Also no active mx riders were out just mechanics and manager types so not to throw anyone under the bus.

I've been there every year since '97 and refuse to miss it. RedBud is a great time, but High Point is tied easily for the best one to attend.

I dont know if they are doing the pit bike races this year, but I know they had a decent size race last year on Friday afternoon. Can't wait

This will be my first year at High Point- can anyone give me a rundown on the camping situation? Like are fires allowed and is it cool if we bring in our own food/beer etc? Is there some grassier places for a small tent?

I would appreciate any info anyone can offer Smile

Do people bring food and coolers into the park or do they sell it there? Also, does everyone bring chairs and pop-ups? Any other suggestions for me? I'm attending this for the first time...

I have attended at least 25 nationals at High Point. I have been to Unadilla, Steel City, and Troy. High Point is the tops. I went to my first national there in 1979 when I was 9. My brother would race on Saturday and Monday when the national was on Memorial day weekend. The camping was crazy.

My twin brother and I would pack up with a bunch of other kids at night and watch the chaos from the shadows. I remember a guy standing in the bed of a pickup truck up above another guy in a lawn chair. The guy in the pickup truck thought it would be funny if he would take a wiz all over the guy below. The guy in the lawn chair didn't seem to mind as he was acting like it was a shower. Booze makes you do stupid things, just ask my wife she can tell you but unfortunately I can't remember. I have seen porta johns burned, 4x4 mud bogs, unsanctioned of course. I have evenwitnessed a guy on a Harley take a lap on the track, again, unsanctioned. A lot of amatuer strippers cut there teeth at High Point. Pretty crazy stuff. It is definitely a lot tamer now but awesome memories. When you are from that area, it was a given that you were going
even if you didn't have a clue about motocross. It was the party of the year.

Unfortunately, I am not able to make it this year and this thread really makes me miss it. Have fun and it is definetly worth the drive.
