You can't request a number on a vest. It's random selection.

How To Make A Career For Yourself In The Motocross Industry 101

01. Join a popular motocross forum.
02. Gain notice/attention/notoriety by posting some ill-conceived comments. (Youthful exuberance?)
03. Ignore all criticism/ridicule/scorn.
04. Learn from your mistakes and learn what & who to listen to.
05. Post regularly and post often.
06. Watch your on-line fame/infamy grow.
07. Make, and wear, your own self-promoting t-shirt.
08. Borrow your Aunty's camera and take some not-very-good photos at a Supercross race. (Learn from this too)
09. Write-up, and post, your own race reports. (Whether you were actually at the race, or not)
10. Meet, and get to know, other forum members.
11. Believe in yourself. (Clearly not a problem for Ddavis)
12. Never, under any circumstance, take yourself too seriously. (This also is clearly not a problem for Ddavis)

Follow these 12 steps and before you know it you'll be a credentialed photo-journo at a Motocross National near you - or, at least, well on your way towards achieving that goal.

Oh wow, so that's who that was. Couldn't have looked more out of sorts/illegitimate/whacked out, etc. Also handed off a vest to some other random dude at some point (I saw a couple guys wearing 69). Good luck with your new career, 69.

I wouldn't say my settings are jacked, but I definitely wish I had the equipment that most of the photographers out there have. The size of their lenses are crazy! It was my first national shooting, it was a blast!

Fast track to a photo pass!

I was surprised when I saw DDavis walking around in a photo vest. I even pointed him out to a couple other photogs and they couldn't believe it either. I worked my ass off, along with most other photogs, to get a photo pass for the first time last year, but I guess following Antipodean's 12 step process is a direct way in. Who knew?

What surprised me more is the fact that someone hired him so soon. He's only been shooting, what, 2-3 months tops?

Sorry Devin, but I know a lot of people who have photo talent that have been rejected, like Bauman, for years and to have someone come in within their first couple months of shooting just doesn't seem right.

On that note, get better at it. Maybe we'll be kicking our own ass' for saying this stuff in the future. Dry

Its amazing how far settings will go, even if its not the best equipment. Equipment plays a part in it, but you're not going to be a Simon Cudby right away if you went out and bought what he's shooting with and not know anything about settings.
