Hello

I am doing a bike build and I am also thinking of changing my grips to a different color to match the bike. Therefore, I wanted to ask real quick what the difference is between these grips. You can choose for half, full or even no waffle at all. Can someone explain to me what the difference is between half, full or none? I've been searching around the internet but I can't seem to find any explanation between these options and which one is the best for every type of rider.

Thanks in advance!

No waffling here, on the no-waffle vote. Easier on the hands, for me. Majority prefer half-waffle, me thinks.

Never go full-waffle!

I’m a full waffle guy. I wear 2XL gloves and like the added diameter. Some people don’t. If your hands are normal size the half waffle is the most popular.

I also have big hands, I've had issues with blisters and hands slipping on half and full waffle grips.

Pillow top grips for me, they have way more grip, no blisters, hands don't slip, less force needed to hold on..

The best thing to do is test yourself. You can get a set of each of the 3 styles from Renthal for not a lot of money. I always ran full waffle, with the top ridge cut off with a scalpel. This set up is awesome for muddy sandy conditions as the waffle keeps your grip grippy even with sh*t all over them.

I've recently gone back to half waffle and for dry conditions I get on with them just fine. Some people are super sensitive and picky with grips, turns out I'm not actually that fussed.

So try them all and see what you like

Full diamond softs. I like my grips and gloves as thin as possible

No-waffle for me. For many years I rode with half waffle and going to no-waffle diamond grips was life changing. I felt so much more comfortable, in control, and could really feel the bike/hang on better.

Anyone running full waffle grips probably has a massive wiener. That's why Eli Tomac runs'em.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I guess I'll go with the lock on grips from ODI if they are available here in Belgium. I have big hands (2XL), so I guess I'll need some waffle then. Going for the half waffle. Because, I think without it's going to be too thin for me.

If you're leaning towards ODI lock ons, their Rogue series is great for big hands....
