It’s time for me to step back and take a breath.
After three years of trying to get Rodeo4K off the ground, I’m pulling the plug. I’ve put everything I had in to it, money, time, etc;. Haven’t made a penny, that’s right, not one cent for all my effort. Maybe the YouTube algorithm hates me, or maybe my content just sucks.
The last three years have stolen everything from me, including my dreams.
Maybe I’ll be back, but if not, it was fun arguing with you dumb mother fuckers for the last 25 years!
Mutt
Well Fuck you too Rodeo!
You think I'm gonna miss your sarcasm Bullshit?
Well your wrong. Ride off in the sunset with your cowboy Hat.
I'm not gonna shed a tier, not one fkn tier. Just giddyup and go,
Just GO!, JUST GO!
Serious note, you will be missed. Don't leave us
Get back on that God Damn horse! Try TikTok. I see creators less talented getting 100K likes in less then a week.
What does your youtube endeavor have to do with your participation here? I get that you are disappointed about your channel not getting monetized but we go way further back in your life than youtube does and we like hearing your stories.
agree completely,
man, your bull riding workouts were unbelievable and i have enjoyed your stuff since moving to the ranch.
there is so much content out there it is hard to stand out,
just keep doing what you are doing and if it happens, it happens.

Agreed . Stick around. On tik tok , I don't know much about it . Aren't there only like 10 to 15 second clips on there ?
Dont let other peoples opinion dictate what you do and who you are. Much like your job, try to look past the money and benefits you could have if you ENJOY what your doing now. Do you ENJOY making films? If so then just do it for you, for the fun of it. Post on youtube or tic toc for those of us who do want to see it, but dont be discouraged if it dosnt "go viral", because seriously who cares as long as its what you enjoy doing. Stay true to yourself! Be you! Do what you want to do, you only get one crack at this life. Stay golden ponyboy.
Most people see no value in what I do, the talent it takes, never mind how hard I work at it and to improve my skill set.
Some of you may remember, I used to like to write stories about my travels to the races. TFS, GuyB, and Donn Maeda were the only “industry” people that ever gave me any credit. Maeda actually got me paid.
After banging your head against a wall for so long, I tend to give up and move on to something else.
I can’t support TikTok, Communist China, and it’s fake inflated views. Never heard of anyone actually getting paid.
No, it’s not all about the money. But there seems to be something fishy in how YouTube works.
Guess if I had big boobs and no talent….
If it’s your dream/goal…don’t give up on it, just because you haven’t achieved it in the timeline you thought you would. You are one video away from success…is it your next video? Or the one after that? Or 100 videos from now? Does it really matter? Keep moving towards it!

I don’t even have a car at this point to sleep in. Love hearing those stories, and yeah, I don’t have a plan “B” yet.
I feel ya…that guy in the video…Stradman…now has over 4 million subscribers on YouTube. From homeless and living in his car…
To help get clicks, trying making the thumbnails for your videos some fat ass girl in yoga pants. That always seems to get people watching.
Kidding aside, I’m no YouTuber but this is how I understand it. Initially, you have to BUY followers, commenters, etc. Yes, there are companies that exist for the sole purpose of providing the service of viewing, commenting, subscribing and liking your content. It’s mostly bots, however, once YouTube sees all that engagement the algorithm moves you up the ranks to where you’ll finally get actual, REAL people viewing your videos. Don’t ask where you go to purchase this service or how much it costs as I don’t have a clue. I’m sure a quick Google search will turn up a bunch of results. All the top influencer people did/do this. You can tell the bots because they always just leave comments like “💯” or “🔥🔥🔥” or some other completely random bullshit. But they at least get the algorithm moving in your favor.
Take a break , see what u got and what really is important. I’m a “ it could be worse” guy. I can ride 3 miles east into the mountains and see people living in places that their grandad probably built and the place is rotten and falling in. Dozens of places like that with kids toys all over .
it could be me but it ain’t and I’m thankful
There’s an option to extend the clips to a few minutes. I posted a couple of one minute clips of my salmon jigs on there and, woke up the following morning to several people inquiring about them. Not to mention, a couple people offering resources for getting the tying material in bulk much cheaper. For myself personally, it’s been a great way to make contacts that have been very beneficial.
This isn’t necessarily how it works. The algorithms can tell if all of your engagement on your video is fake.
Mutt, did you buy that Darrell Eaves book I told you about?
there is a recipe to success, he knows it.
You could also consider doing quick how to/tech tip videos.
I’m assuming you’re a fairly handy guy.
“Hey, here’s this bad ass tool I use for xyz. Here’s how it works. If this can help you, click the link in the description to get one yourself.”
You can set up an Affiliate account with Amazon or any number of companies and make money that way. These videos live forever online is the nice thing, I have a buddy who has made like $5k in affiliate commission from some dash cover for his suburban.
Just a thought.
Do you want to make rodeo videos or do you want to make money from making videos ? Those two things might not be compatible . Just a thought .
Pit Row
Just an idea here. BTW, none of my videos ever get more than a few hundred views, but that's not why I post them. So this is not me giving you tips on getting rich on YT.
I watch a guy named Abom79. He does machine shop crap but he has a shit ton of subscribers and probably makes pretty good money from YT. He met up with some people that were all YT'ers that were learning how to pour cast iron. One was a woman who had a small channel but was not real big. Adam sort of took a liking to her and mentioned her channel on one of his videos. He has over 500K subscribers and she had something in the low thousands. Her shit tripled after he plugged her in his video. Of course after that it was up to her to keep people interested.
Nut up, cowboy.
Nobody got time for quitters.
"Quit this ___ and you'll be a quitter all your life."
Try changing the format Mutt. YouTube shorts seems to be the new thing. Do a short video just showing Salley the calf and her grazing field. A short video of nothing but the night sky and the sound of coyotes/wolves/whatever you got round there howling. Do some short videos on strange tools you use out there. What's it good for, what's it do. Show me what it does.
Maybe it'll never get big. Personally I'm not a huge fan of your videos. But if you give up it sure as fuck won't grow.
Oh and the bonus to youtube shorts, tiktok, insta videos, and other short format stuff. They don't take much time, they're not supposed to. Cell video, no video intro or outro. Little to no editing. "Raw." Helps you get more content out there in an easy to digest format.
Good luck
Bro…American cowboy stuff…is there anyway to target like Asian or South American markets on YouTube with subtitles?
like Colintrax mentioned…shorts! And about random tools, or how to fix a fence, or a cow calving, or branding/castrating/dehorning/otherwise marking/doctoring up cattle, or rodeo, or the wide open spaces, or beautiful sky, wild animal's…or any other particular “American” and “cowboy” things you are doing might be more interesting to people in Japan or Thailand, or Brazil, than Americans maybe?
when I lived in SoCal, I’d tell my friends down there all the stuff we’d do with cattle on my grandpas ranch, and they were 9 parts interested, 1 part repulsed half the time…eating “Rocky Mountain Oysters”? Preg testing? Artificial insemination? Branding? Moving cattle by horseback? They all ate it up!
We had a foreign exchange student from Japan last year, and see was obsessed/fascinated by ANYTHING stereotypical American (particularly anything cowboy)…
and if that fails…get (or become?) a hot chick and have her do all that same stuff, but in a bikini…just kidding! But I don’t want you to give up on it if that’s what you really want to do.
Buy fake views. Dana White just got popped on a video where 2 million plus views were all from non existant accounts. As were all the comments.
I think YT needs to be demonitized. It was better when people posted interesting stuff for fun instead of clickbait, fake bullshit.
"I bought 6 Lambos for 200K at an auction"...literally is the car washer at a dealer and didn't buy bubblegum.
BTW, I went down a rabbit hole one night and watched all your vids. Pretty good shit. All I can say is it is niche content.
I supposed if you were 18, and a hot chick, riding in a bikini.....definitely get more views. I mean look at how many bullshit videos are out there of some chick who runs out of a house naked, looks like shes snowblowing a driveway in a bikini for 30 minutes during a blizzard and it's all green screen.
But simpy dudes buy that shit. I mean they pay these broads money on OF...and That shit is free in 5 minutes and these broads look nothing like that when you turn off the filters.
I dunno, maybe run a Jennifer Aniston filter. Nothing on tik tok is real, and maybe 50% of YT is real.
I'd suggest listening to Sean Stricklands rants about grown men on tiktok first before going that route.
You'll immediately get branded a flamer.
I’m not in to shorts. TikTok is about people dancing around and making a fool of themselves. Honestly, I don’t even want to vlog or film myself. I’d much rather do documentary type film on other people, it’s just finding folks that will let me film them and tell their story.
I understand that people have the attention span of a gnat, but 5-15 minutes is hard for me.
Project I have in the works now, “El Vaquero”, is on a 94 and 95 year old Cowboy. It’ll be my first feature length video. Interviews with them, their family members, friends, and previous employers.
I’m currently reading his book.
Stuff like this is what I want produce:

You should read Art of the Deal
C’mon, mutt. You’re a big boy and know that no one owes you anything. How much you want something and how hard you work for it doesn’t guarantee you anything.
Personally I like your videos when I watch them, but I don’t really watch them as often as I’d like to as time is limited.
I hope you continue doing the videos if you’re doing it for yourself, not necessarily for the money. Sometimes the things that we really want to do just aren’t going to pay the bills, but they are a necessary hobby to keep us sane.
Now get away from the edge of what sounds like the beginnings of a pity party and go take some shots of those new calves…..!
I don't know if this information will help or hinder, but I read your comment about 164,000 views and $29,000.
To give you an example, Vital's YouTube channel has produced just a tick over 3,000,000 views since the start of this year and about 184,000 watch hours. With that, we've earned just under $15,000 and we're in the top percentile of CPMs on YouTube. Meaning we're on a higher scale of how much we get paid per video. The average YouTube channel makes around half of what we do per view. So for those same view and watch numbers, most channels would only produce $7,000-$8,000.
I mostly share this so you're not too hung up on what believe you've missed out on income-wise and give you a real representation of what the pay scale is for content production on YouTube.
Besides what's already been said Mutt, there is still the matter of procedural guidelines and etiquette required when requesting separation from Vital Ick. Without going into the specific details of the policy, there just wasn't enough "melt down" in your request for us to enjoy. You are free to appeal, but your application has been denied. Please do better next time.
