Cuba's national electric grid collapsed on Monday, the country's grid operator said, leaving around 10 million people without power amid a U.S.-imposed oil blockade that has crippled the island's already obsolete generation system.
Time to see the light Cuber.
My parents vacationed there before the castro era took command and began destroying the country, and the lives of the people. And turned it into a russian spy base.
We can only hope that their previous standard of living can eventually return.
We'll see.
…and Little Rocket Man is on deck.

Hopefully, they can turn things around and create a major tourist destination and thrive.
I have been on the "wrong" side of the Cuba issue for many years I guess. I have always been against the embargoes and restrictions which only hurts the Cuban people. It makes our politicians look "tough" but never accomplishes anything. Castro never missed a meal in 60 years.
Cubans are highly industrious, utilizing archaic technology for 60+ years. Turn them loose with modern tools and they will show us how to maximize efficiency.
While that's true the people always suffer the most, I think that inspired the quote ""Revolution always starts in the countryside, never from within the city." And "is it bad enough?" Here in CA, when things were good, most people didn't pay much attention to what's going on in Sacramento. As things get bad and worse, more of the people are paying attention and not liking it. Is it bad enough yet? Probably not yet. But it's probably bad enough in Cuba right now that they will change course due to an insurmountable pressure from within. If they do change, that place could become a paradise.
We can dust off the old craps tables and one-armed bandits from Batista’s era!
I remember back in the late 70s going to Puerto Rico for a work trip. I wanted to go in the casino and "no admittance without coat" so they had some "loaner suit coats" it was about 3" longer than my fingers. But had to wear it. I think I was maybe 18 at the time.
To add to that, the US helped industrialized Puerto Rico at that time by waiving taxes on companies the built factories and produced product there for either 10 or 20 years. So we had quite a few medical device manufacturer customers there.
They should send me & you, TM, as ambassadors for a new US-Cuba partnership. We’ll start at the rum factories and make our way to the cigar plants, with a fleet of casino technicians in tow.
I can't speak Spanish, but I can learn if you need help.
We talked about this at church, how it feels good to leave poor people halfway around the world without any power, then we all went out for cheeseburgers and milkshakes and had some laughs.
I like the way you think brother!
I could upvote this is there were onion rings involved! Well not just any onion rings, they have to be good ones.
Had to edit this because some people don't understand sarcasm and have to label it that way.
Hard to find good onion rings. Plenty of bad examples. The Varsity in Atlanta may have the best. But I’m open to suggestions.
