I have a friend that I’ve known for years who is neck deep in the chemtrails conspiracy. She’ll send me pictures of multiple contrails crisscrossing near her house and I’ll tell her that she’s near several major airways with an intersection. That’s too simple for her. It has to be something nefarious. I’ve told her that I’ve flown with many pilots with many backgrounds and if there was any chemtrails flying, it wouldn’t stay secret for long. In fact, it’s a big joke in the pilot group. Yet she’s firmly dug her heels in.
While that was a thing at one time, as far as I know most resorts(if not all) have stopped.

I certainly hope that to be true, but it looks like Vail Resorts (of course) is still involved and holds a permit for weather modification.
Here is what I found on Colorado.gov
There are currently 7 permitted weather modification programs in Colorado:
Central Colorado Mountains River Basins (CCMR
(Colorado River Water Conservation District, Front Range Water Council, Ski Areas of Breckenridge, Keystone, and Winter Park)
There are three total areas permitted under the CCMRB
Vail/Beaver Creek Program (Vail/Beaver Creek Ski Areas)
Upper Gunnison River Basin Program (Gunnison County, Upper Gunnison River Water Conservation District)
Grand Mesa (Water Enhancement Authority which is comprised of Collbran WCD, Fruitland Mesa WCD, Crawford WCD, Grand Mesa Pool)
San Juan Mountains Program (Southwestern WCD, City of Durango, Animas La Plata WCD, Durango Mountain Resort, Dolores WCD, Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District, San Juan WCD, San Juan Resource Conservation and Development Council)
North Platte Basin Ground-Based Program (Jackson County Water Conservancy District)
St. Vrain and Left Hand Program (St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District)
Does that mean cloud seeding with Airplanes or do they need that permit to use on the ground snow makers?
You are right... I was wrong. I actually got curious after I posted it, and saw that many resorts are still doing it or if its anything its getting more popular. I thought I deleted the post shortly after I posted it but apparently not.
I'm not sure why I originally recalled resorts pulling back from it...
All good, buddy. It's interesting stuff for sure.
On the ground snow makers do not need a permit because they are not categorized under 'weather modification'.
That is just shooting water droplets through pressurized air and it falls as snow.
The resorts use on the ground cloud seeders and its also done by airplane.
