whats your thoughts on speed limits?

Murdering a heartbeat is murder. So you’re ok with some murder, in a clinical setting, just not gun murder? Seems more than a bit hypocritical.

Speed limits should be abolished. It’s just another revenue generator for the nanny state.

Holy mother of nanny states! You should seriously consider moving to China, I’m sure their society would fit your government control wants much better.

Let me guess, but you’re Pro Abortion?

I guess you disagree with the government mandating air bags, seat belts, abs, traction control, forward collision detection and advanced crash protection as well?

Never let them take your guns, what they did here in Australia would not fly if we had guns.

the gun "problem" is a system issue the rise of mental illness is on the government their systems their education and policies caused it, we should be studying on how and why these people get to a point where they feel this is the only way.

But hey, Problem reaction and solution always favors the gov.

I disagree with government “mandating” just about everything. The “Nanny State” is out of control. Give me some of that sweetly dangerous freedom.

What do you blame gun murders on?  Where could the blame possibly lie, than with the person holding the gun?

And, studies show, that the extreme majority of mass murders suffer from, or have suffered from, mental illness.

So mass murders have two things in common, MOST of the time, guns, and mental illness.  One is an inanimate object, the other is a disease that affects the brain and reasoning and perspective of the human holding that inanimate object.  So though there is correlation between mass murders and guns, I feel its a stretch to assume guns are causing the mass murders.  So though there is correlation between mass murders and mental illness, I don't feel its a stretch at all, to see that mental illness is the cause of most mass shootings.

So why the focus on the guns?  It seems that so many are fine with murderous crazy people out and about in our society as long as they don't have a gun...me? I'd rather address the root cause-mental illness-and start helping all of the murderous crazy people..while also taking reasonable steps to try and prevent those murderous people from getting guns without taking any liberty away from healthy law abiding citizens.

It doesn't take mental illness to point a gun at another person and pull the trigger, all it takes is justification. That justification can be protection of person or property, revenge, ambition, combat orders, etc.

I would say the modern "mass shooting" era started with Columbine, before that "going postal" was a bit of a joke. Since Columbine US gun laws have been significantly loosened, and justifications for shooting someone has been loosened both in the law and in the public conciousness. Since that time there has also been a significant up-tick in othering of people you don't agree with, don't like , or have been told not to like or agree with. Recently there's been a significant uptick in promoting violence as a solution to those others. It's no coincidence that these factors correlate with an uptick in mass shootings and gun homicides.

There's a psychosis happening and it's being driven in large part by people who think they can't accomplish what they want through democratic processes. The way forward is to break society and call on themselves to be the people to fill the power vacuum and fix society in their image. Increasing gun violence and racial tension is a significant part of this plan.

The idea that improving mental Healthcare will stop the violence is just a way to string it along until it all blows up which is why there hasn't been a damn thing accomplished since Columbine to improve real mental health care. I guess there's been some expansion of Healthcare through Obama care but that's always trying to be overturned by the rihht wing mental advocates so you know that's BS.

"The idea that improving mental Healthcare will stop the violence..."

Nobody is saying that (well, I'm certainly not)...in fact, in this thread we aren't talking about generic violence (and certainly not violence for " protection of person or property, revenge, ambition, combat orders, etc") we are talking about mass murderers...people who walk into public places and kill random people.  And those are very different in my opinion.

And virtually all mass murderers are mentally ill.  Its irrefutable.  That mental health issue is what causes them to justify their actions in their mind...I honestly don't see how improving mental health wouldn't decrease-though not eliminate-mass murders (though it certainly wouldn't "stop the violence").

Let me ask you this, who/what is pushing this "othering of people you don't agree with, don't like , or have been told not to like or agree with"?  Who/what is doing that?

Who/what is "promoting violence as a solution to those others"?

If you are going to blame mass murderers on that...who/what is responsible?

How do they treat mental illness? You go see the psychiatrist and they don’t “treat” you, they give out a prescription to big pharma’s newest wonder drug. How many of those say, “May Cause Suicidal/Homicidal Ideation”? How many “mass shooters”, we’re taking some form of psychotropic medication before the horrific incident.

Nobody tells you to go outside and get some exercise. Yes, exercise is the best, all natural pill for depression. There’s no profit in getting high on endorphins.

They want you to stay inside and consume. Get on the internet and support China buying crap on Amazon. Order some convenient fast food and have it delivered to your door via GrubHub. We support obesity, don’t you be a body shamer, because it is a sign of consumption and overindulgence.

Mass shootings are an extension of the use of asymmetric force, just like those 2 kids that got shot for going to the wrong houses. Asymmetric force is expected to have a cooling effect on the targets. Don't go knocking on doors you don't know at night if you're a black kid. Don't like immigrants, drive from Dallas to El Paso to shoot Mexicans at Walmart, that will make them think twice before they come here. The violence is the point.

Mental health is a moving target so it's a good talking point. It also encapsulates mass shooters and LGBT into the same group which is advantageous to push to the right people.

Who's pushing it? Russia, China, NAR, those that would like to wreck the dollar as the reserve currency, secessionist, pushers of the Theocratic state.

I'm against long term use of any pills except in specific circumstances.

Antidepressant use among women is much higher than among men, yet mass shootings, gun violence, and violent crime is much lower among women.

In another thread there was mention of breathalyzers being required on vehicles, another common sense law that won’t gain any traction

Requirement of devices to stop impaired drivers in new vehicles will be required within 5 years.

It was in one of the wonderful pieces of legislation passed recently.

I seem to recall it being in the inflation reduction act. Makes sense. I am sure requiring senseless, complicated, nanny state bullshit will make cars more affordable.

Thank you for your service.

I'd imagine you don't think of yourself as mentally ill because your actions were justified?
