Does anyone here have one yet? If so how do you like it? I'm about ready to upgrade from 2010 silverado extended cab that I have owned for 8 years due to high mileage, these new canyons really have my attention but a little worried about dropping back down to a mid sized, hoping to hear about some real world experience from someone, I have not been able to test drive yet due to no local dealers having one

Haven’t been in one for a couple years but the 2024 Tacoma has my attention, especially if I get to a point where I don’t need the Tundra for towing.

Yea those look nice as well, I don't do any towing and I don't have kids, so no car seats in the back so cab space is not much of a concern for me, just having trouble deciding if mid size is the way to go for me

I have a 2021 GMC Canyon and the new one is on my radar. I don’t like the new Tacoma and am honestly debating between keeping my current (and paid for) Canyon, upgrading to the new one (I think the upgrades are excellent) or getting the Rivian R1T.

Honestly, if the R1T dual motor long range pack fit into the federal incentive in white with ocean coast interior, I’d already have it on order. Since it doesn’t, I’m holding tight for new canyon promos or price drops from Rivian.

I'm also interested in that Canyon, but the new Tacoma looks very promising. I like the hybrid engine idea for a truck - lots of torque and I bet the mileage would be good if you can keep your foot out of it.
My wife drives a '22 GMC Terrain, and we have to get 3 recalls done on it next weekend. I have a 2013 Tacoma with 275,000 miles and I've only ever changed the wear items. +1 for Toyota.

If you're gonna keep it forever, get a Toyota.

The Canyons look nice if you plan on upgrading every few years.

$47k base price in Canada. That’s nuts.

Our family has two Colorados, both crew cabs, and I feel like the midsize is a perfect fit for us.  We can haul two bikes and all the gear in the back of the bed and will occasionally tow a 16' flat bed with more bikes.  Regarding reliability, the 06 has 160k miles with just wear items and the 18 has 40k with only oil changes and tire rotations (and a leaky DSSV shock replaced under warranty at 5k).

I did have an 06 colorado crew cab z71 that I sold to buy my silverado so I do have idea on what it's like having a mid size but that was 8 years ago, and yes they are expensive. But unfortunately a new full size is much more expensive and a decent used full size is expensive as well

I was given an opportunity to drive the previous Colorado ZR2 during development. It was pretty damn nice…so, I ordered a couple of them: one for me, one for the shop. ML spent some time in the diesel.

I’ve still got an ‘18 ZR2/V6 that I’ve begrudgingly kept…because, my daughter wanted to keep the truck that she learned to drive in…when she was 12 (she’s 16 now and just got her license). She loves it…but, she doesn’t have to take care of it/service it! Laughing

It’s my “Last GM”.

I’ve had more than my fair share of problems with this truck: from broken shocks to transmission issues…all of which are known issues including tech-service bulletins and…all the while…GM did everything they could to NOT cover the broken and failing parts. I got them to sort of cover the transmission repairs: remove the bad oil they put in it… with water in it/replace with Mobil 1 product after a very thorough thermal-flushing…per a GM TSB. Again…there is a tech-service bulletin for this; however, this turned out to be a problem that occurred just after the warranty ran out (62,000 miles on a 60,000 mile warranty…this occurred in December 2019). I ended up paying for the oil…not the labor. This only got done after making it clear that I was canceling 3 new GM vehicle orders(2 Caddy Escalades/1 2500 Diesel…company cars)…in writing…to GM peeps in Detroit.

Now…because Ella loves this truck…I have a spare trans at the ready (8L90…I think?) and Fox Shox in the rear. Laughing
Kids…ya know?

On the shock, one of the rear shocks broke. The shaft broke off the lower mount. A known problem on the early Gen 1 DSSV shocks. Very EXPENSIVE & GM didn’t/doesn’t want to even talk about it. Period. This is when I openly compared how well Ford takes care of any & all issues I have/had with a Raptor(had Gen 1s before the Colorado debacle)…all the while GM doesn’t on their top off-road offerings… I made this comparo at an open forum among industry folk at SEMA…it appeared to be a known issue. That’s when I knew my days with GM would be coming to an end. And…they have.

There were a few interior issues that someone…a friend…at GM simply sent new parts to the house to replace(he’s since moved on to Ram/Stellantis)…including fresh front seats and he was super helpful when I needed parts for my other ZR2…a diesel…that’s a decent truck, btw. The front seats had flaws in the leather (another known issue) and the diesel had a coupl’a simple sensor issues.

This was GM’s top shelf off-road product in 2018. Was ordered in 2017. Was a $45K build…diesel was $48. Both trucks had EVERYTHING GM offered in’em.

Again…GM didn’t even address the shock that broke during the 2nd month…did their best to try to get $1,000 from me for a known failure and published TSB correction for the 8 speed trans.

And…since then…from the 1st days of The Panickdemic and including a fresh Bronco in May…

All I’ve bought…are…Fords.

Transits, Raptors & the Bronco.
I drive the Transit as my daily driver…133,000 problem free miles and my bikes, dog and all my stuff is waaaaay more secure…vans RULE. Chevy has NO comparable product…a van you can stand up in…get good mileage with a modern power train…designed in this millennium…doesn’t drove like a 50 year old bus…etc. Laughing

The Raptor, again, GM has NO comparable product…they canceled the original ZRX. Only the TRX from Ram is an actual alternative to a Raptor.

The Bronco? Well, that’s where GM has REALLY shit the bed. Have you seen what they call a “Blazer”?Shocked

The point? GM sells “off-roadish” trucks. They are sorta decent; but, they’re not very capable when compared to the competition…and they’re waaaaay over priced for what they actually are. The new Canyon 4WD STARTS at $42K…NO OPTIONS…at all. WTF?

In the mid-size segment, Toyota is still the “go to” for many moto-peeps & I’m also seeing a lot of the new Nissan Frontiers and even some Ford Rangers (about to be replaced with an even newer “F 150ish” design including a Ranger Raptor).

All that aside, if I “had to” buy a GM? I’d get the 1500 that suits my needs & I’d likely get the 6.2  because that engine kicks ass.

Good luck!

You have a lot of good points and I do appreciate the feedback, as well as everyone else's, and what's crazy is I do have a cousin that is the finance manager at a local Ford Chrysler dealer and he keeps telling me he can hook me up with a family discount. Problem is that is that it is a small dealership so they never have what I would want in stock, and every truck I have owned had been chevy and my current silverado had treated me great honestly, has far ad a offroad vehicle. I have the jeep for thatScreenshot 20230704 192115 Gallery 0

All trucks are nice

How easy are they to repair?

Anything from 1997-2012 are easy to work on.

Tacoma has no power or gas mileage.

I am super impressed with my work truck f150 2.7 turbo.

I'll never have the money for a new truck.

Recently had a new engine installed in a 2000 ford hahahahahaha. At the dealer.

300 thousand before new engine.

I just picked up my Colorado a few days ago and so far im loving it.  Im coming from the previous model and the new one is a lot better. The ride is so much smoother, interior and options are better. The motor feels good, but the sound of a 4 cylinder is lackluster for sure. IMG 7237.jpg?VersionId=MI
