With all the hype from Weege & Deegan a few years ago
"we'll race him when it's time"
How do you feel Ryder D has performed since leaving PC Kawi? I believe it was Denver when he gave up spots with zero fight after leading for a while, that was a big head scratching moment.
Does he have the confidence to run up front and get a heat race win, or a top 5 in SX...?
Does he build and improve in MX and show some fight, or.........?
Top 10 in a stacked class yesterday. Fitness might be his biggest weakness.
Wasn’t fitness his biggest weakness last year in the nationals too? Hate to bring Deegan up, but he’s in beast mode. Maybe Ryder D needs to run some half marathons with JMart 🤷🏻♂️ I like Ryder D too, but I’ve expected more from him, I would’ve thought he’d have a few moto podiums by now.
Fitness was an issue last year around the 20 minute mark, seemed to have a better grip on it up until 2 laps to go at Fox yesterday. Last year he finished 11th. I kind of expected to see a podium or two, and few heat race wins out of him so far.
He finished 4th at the SMX round 1 playoff last year, which is his best finish to date.
I think with his fitness dialed in and the right coach he could be a podium guy. No idea why he hasn’t made many if any gains in the last year.

Mitch not keeping him raises some questions given how good of a talent he is.
Injuries, Easy to forget about but hard to overcome at the top level
So the coach/trainer he has now is no good? Seems like the kid goes through trainers/coaches.
I happened to run into Ryder’s Dad at Seattle airport waiting for a hotel shuttle and had a cool chat with him. I asked him why he left PC and he told me Mitch was forced to let him go because Kawasaki now wants all their riders 21 yrs and older. Ryder is only 18, and was Kawasaki says goes so Mitch had to let him walk to keep the Kawi team support.
That's good to hear.
Drew Adams will be the litmus test i suppose
Did I say that? Are you so dense that you don’t realize that guys find MORE along the way by learning from different people. I’m sorry you’re either sensitive or brand new to the sport. Welcome.
I had heard the samething that Pro Circuit is under pessure to win now.. from Kawasaki.. They spent alot of money on the 3 riders that came in ahead of Ryder and only got one championship out of them . Ryder kept saying it was the bike last year and that after 20 min he could barely hang on to it.which might really have been true since he could go for 27 min and run towards the front in his first few nationals a couple years ago. He did win a heat race in only his 2nd SX this year in the mud . ..it looks to me like hes riding to not get hurt and he doesnt have that killer instinct he had up to 2yrs ago..He really hasnt gotten alot of racing in on the 250 due to injury i think he only got one season of outdoors for Kawi and no supercross for them since this was his rookie SX season,, sometimes it takes guys a little longer than others to get up there and start winning . RJ and Smith have 10yrs on 250s
Yeah, he's the sensitive one lol
I think he is doing a good progression. Learning and not pushing it over his head and getting hurt. It takes a minute.
Mitch did say he would love to have him back, he is just young. From the post above about Kawasaki and age, sounds about right.
Not a good showing yesterday wonder what’s up with him?
Ryder just don’t have the raw speed
I don’t know what the hell we would watch if we fired every guy that isn’t living up to the hype or his factory ride. A 5 rider battle. Cool.
He has stayed mostly healthy. He has been solid 5-10 guy mostly. Levi Kitchen is 4 years older and RJ is 9 years older. I think if I’m a team manager I’m pretty happy with Ryder D. Just my opinion.

You're not wrong. I thought he was going to be a Deegan type rookie where he came in and killed it. So my expectations were too high. The only thing I'll say is his fitness doesn't look that good. At least compared to the front runners
I expected him to show what Hymas is showing honestly. Those were my expectations on him coming in last year with PC and I’m sure a lot of others too. If he didn’t have expectations like that then I don’t think we’d be seeing the threads about him or that everyone knows he’s had a fitness issue for the last year.
Definitely something missing with the body. He looks small, like he has more to grow like AC.
With better starts and better fitness I think he could run up front like Hymas did.
Look at JuJu Beaumer for example, I'd expect results similar to his out of Ryder D and this is JuJu's first season.
Ryder D looked promising in futures, and has had little progression with his race craft & results since arriving in the pro ranks.
Where is the FIGHT in him? He doesn't seem to ride defensively to maintain his position, is it confidence?
Genuinely asking, because this seems to be the recurring theme within the PC Kawi talent pool for the last few years, the kids seem to fizzle out by the time they hit the big leagues.
That seems to be the case with all of the big amateur teams for the last few years. The only phenom to actually make podiums has been Deegan. Look at Mumford, Ryder, Romano, Bennick, Towers, etc. it's time to stop hyping up these amateurs as the next big thing. They rarely ever are.
During amateurs I thought Ryder D ahead of Deegan in terms of taw talent, but it was very very clear that Deegan has the will to win no matter what.
Still surprised at the lack of results for Ryder D, I expected him to be top 5 going for podiums by now.
Deegan has man’s strength. He wasn’t the fastest rider during qualifiers but he ate them up at the end of Moto 1. He was also railing the outside. Kitchen is working with Peter Park and will be ready to rock soon.
things that make you go hmm
The kid has been grinding for over 10yrs. I'd have a "guess" its early stages of burnout or diet.
Kind of reminds me of Talon Hawkins. I was hoping to see better results from both of them but no denying that they are both exceptionally skilled and awesome to watch on the track!
So far, all of the Bakersfield wonderkids don't seem to be living up to the hype...Jett Reynolds, Stiles Robertson, RyderD.
But I still think Ryder will come around and put in some good rides.
Totally agree about the high expectations due to team/media babble.
If he came in like this without the hype, we'd probably just say cool, decent ride, he needs to develop and still has work to do though.
As it is, we expected way more due to the buzz around him from the outset and think there's something wrong. There may be something wrong, but he may just a little burnt out or still trying to build and find what works for him physically.
