I picked up a Dell xps 15 laptop with a  1050 ti graphics card and  i7 processor, runs mx bikes clean and is portable. It's a couple years old now but I think I paid $1200 for it. So probably $1700 now a days.

I would check your local classifieds and facebook marketplace. You can usually find some good deals when people are upgrading.

If you want to build one check out pcpartpicker, they have build guides on there for most budgets. You'll probably be in the $500-600 range to build and entry level gaming desktop. But would be just fine for MX Bikes.

Example: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/wsQzK8/entry-level-intel-gaming-build

You could always build a new rig minus a GPU and then find a used GPU locally for cheap. That would put you a bit cheaper, maybe $400 for the rig then find a GPU for $100 or something.

Funny that this just got brought up. Recently just upgraded my laptop this week. Last time I bought one was in 2008 and wanted to run mx simulator. MX SIM only needs 4GB of ram and a mediocre graphics card. It was like $400 then. Now I got a MSI 2-in-1 for $2K with 32GB of ram, 3050ti graphics card, and i7 1260P processor. BUT this time I wanted to be able to run microsoft flight simulator and other future mx games. Going to get MX bikes to see if its any better.

Main points: Find something with 16GB ram, gaming graphics card and 12th gen i5 or i7 processors and 512GB SSD minimum.

Any thoughts on a decent controller for this game?

I use Xbox elite. "Feels nice in the hands... Ladies" connects easily and is durable.

I finally broke down and spent the money after trying Mx Bikes at my buddies house a few months ago.

I went with a plug and play unit from https://www.digitalstorm.com/ for about $1400 all said and done

Super happy with how smooth Mx Bikes and iRacing run

Highly recommend the elite controller the extra triggers and adjustable joysticks are super helpful!

I have an HP OMEN 15 from 2017, has an i7 and GTX1050Ti GPU. 8GB RAM and it runs just fine. I have reshade installed as well and don’t use it but when I did it ran good. Would cost you $1000 when new but now you can probably find one in that performance range for $200-400

Zyc that unit will run mxbikes no problem. You could upgrade the ram and storage if you need it in the future, but for basic 1080p 60hz gaming that will run it.

You can get a desktop from BestBuy for around $700-$900 with a decent GPU to run most AAA titles, if not all of them.

I did exactly this, spent around 650. My graphics cards is a 1660, parts picker let me know what board would work with everything. YouTube’d how to put it together.

Fegpc.com has all levels of builds, message him tell him what game you want it for and he will give you the best price. He builds thousands of pc’s, will even FaceTime with you to help you set stuff up anytime you have trouble. He’s a good dude

Other games to check out if you're going PC, TrackdayR and Motocross: Chasing the Dream. Both very early in development and very obviously so, haven't spent much time playing because I have no time for this crap, but they both seem very promising. Really like the look of the tracks and terrain in MXCTD. That'll be one to watch as time moves on.

Although I must confess that I really just prefer firing up the XSX and having a go in one of the MXGP or MES games, for the little time I have it's just way easier.
