He seriously needs to use the "mugshot" as background in every rally from here on out.

And...

A shitty precedent has now been set.

What goes around, comes around.

Yep precedent was set well before this, it's just now,  every local prosecutor will target political opposition.  More Banana Republic stuff out of the party of intolerance.

Let’s see how it plays out. Even if convicted, there’s nothing in the Constitution barring him from running for president. His core constituency will get slightly smaller but more resolute. Even if only 35% of republicans support Trump, if they all vote, he wins.

Interesting times…

I bet there are a lot of politicians out there shaking in their boots right now...This is precedent is going to get ugly.  It could go one of two ways...1) The legal system will be used to target political opponents on both sides of the isle.  2) Politicians are so afraid of this they will clean up their act.   You can decide which is most likely.

I suppose I'm confused.

1. Trump cheated on his wife.
2. He paid the woman he cheated on his wife with to keep her mouth shut.
3. He lied to the American public saying he didn't do exactly what he did.
4. He got caught.
5. He's now being held accountable for it.

Explain it to me like I'm an idiot: why are we angry that a guy who cheats on his wife, pays people off, and lies to the American public is getting in trouble?

Bonus points if you can explain it without mentioning any other politicians (call me old school but I believe every man should be able to stand on their own two feet).

Because it’s a misdemeanor that has had statue limitations pass but the woke DA upgraded to felony (with no continued violation) for the publicity?

I think that regardless of which side you lean towards, we can all agree this is going to be one hilarious shit show 😂

It's a misdemeanor to use campaign finances to pay hush money while running to be president of the United States?

That's fucking wild. I always thought of misdemeanors as things like graffiti and being a drunk dumbass in public.

Thanks for the info.

Used his own money not campaign finance that theory has already been disproven, their key witness in this new indictment is Michael Cohen. A man convicted for felony perjury and fraud. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, it is no doubt a political hit job. Full disclosure I am a huge Trump fan but I think the democrats went all in on this and it’s gonna blow up in their face and a lot of people will go to jail. This is actually a pretty scary time as I believe the weaponization of the Justice system is a very dangerous thing for everyone. This goes to show if you oppose them and they don’t like it you will go to jail and they will stop at nothing to ruin you.

It's not what he paid for, it's how he allegedly listed it (campaign legal funds), which is the same way Hillary listed the fake as fuck Steel Dossier, and she was only given a fine (from memory, I think it was $100K for the DNC and $8k for her).

Tell me you know nothing of the background on this case without telling me you know nothing on the background of this case:

”In New York, falsifying business records can amount to a crime, albeit a misdemeanor. To elevate the crime to a felony charge, Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors must show that Mr. Trump’s “intent to defraud” included an intent to commit or conceal a second crime.”

Did you never once ask yourself, “why is local DA pursuing him instead of DOJ”?

I suppose this ties into why I'm confused, I don't know what I'm supposed to be angry about.

Am I supposed to be angry at his actions (which no one seems to be denying), the classification of the crime (which no one seems to be denying he committed a crime), the person they're using to convict trump, the witness, etc.?

If this holds other politicians to this same standard, I'm totally cool with it. Let's drain that fucking swamp baby!

Let’s try something, no down votes just open conversation. You wanna down vote someone? Reply with a comment and refute their answer, simple as that. That is how adults conduct their business, let’s just see how it goes guys! 😂

It’s the false premise on which charges were brought and the upgrade from civil misdemeanor to criminal felony.

So, for comparison - Hillary Clinton had virtually the same violation in 2021. Her 2016 campaign paid for the (debunked) Steele Dossier against Trump, claiming he colluded with Russia, which turned out to be false. She filed the expense as "legal expense" rather than a campaign expense, basically the same thing Trump did. Her punishment? Pay a fine.

Since taking office, Bragg (District Attorney on this) - who also received a $1m donation from George Soros, has downgraded 52% of felonies to misdemeanors, literally putting felon criminals back into the streets. In the case of Trump, he upgraded a misdemeanor to a felony.

Now, without a horse in the race.. does it sound like there could be motivation here?

Meanwhile, the US is on the edge of economic collapse and this is what our officials are spending their energy on.

Some of you get way too offended by a politician getting indicted. Clinton, Trump, any politician with money will never really get in trouble unless the whole establishment is against them. Clinton only has half against her and Trump only has half against him. Fuck all these rich sons of bitches who get away with shit while every day people are thrown in jail for a bag of weed. Trump will die of old age before he goes to jail.

If this actually goes to trial, Trump's lawyers will eat the state of NY for lunch. My guess is that this will boil down to accounting malfeasance. State prosecutors are no match for what Trump will throw at them. Even if they get a conviction, it's a BFD. Nobody will change their vote in 2024 and it's a fucking misdemeanor. Pay the fine.

IMHO, the trigger for all this nonsense was the Clinton impeachment. It was terrible strategy by the Republicans to go through with it because there was no way they were ever going to get a conviction in the Senate. That means it was nothing but a show trial. A purely political driven event. They even lost seats in the House in 98 thinking this was going to sway the vote. The Democrats made the same idiotic mistake impeaching Trump 8 or 9 times, I lost count.

This is small potatoes. All it does is reveal the DA's office in NY as petty and politically driven. This is no Black Swan event. It will go the way of Y2K. Ho Hum, unless Trump's narcissism  turns it into something else like he did with the 2020 election. All bets are off then. If he is even 10 percent as smart as he claims he is, he will ignore this and focus on his campaign and let his lawyers handle it.

notice how quiet our resident libs are?

even IF this goes to trial, DT is going to mop the floor.

Then when he's POTUS cause of their own stupid games, he's going to throw 10m man house at hammering Crackhead Hunter and "The Big Guy" and it's game on. And they did it to themselves, and strangely, they know it.
