I bought a 2005 yz 250 today and want to put a weight in the flywheel I’m not sure what to get I ride mostly trails and the occasional track and maybe sand in the future. I had a kx125 and it was easy but this yz is hard to control any help would be appreciated I’m a beginner/intermediate rider. I ride 450 quads but I’m kind of new to bikes

The gytr is made for the bike and replaces your existing flywheel. It is pretty easy to install.

The GYTR fly wheel is my favorite and I've tried about everything. The second thing you can do is switch to the N3EW needle, assuming your bike still has the stock N3EJ needle in it and you don't ride at really high altitude. The "J" needle is much sharper in response than the "W" and will help mellow it out some. N3EW is the stock needle since about 2007. The third, and one of the best things you can do is to cut the head and lower the compression. Getting the squish set right and lowering the compression is a big improvement for the trail rider. With the FWW the engine will pull down lower in RPM without stalling and be a whole lot smoother in power delivery. Not to mention being much easier on the crank and less finicky about fuel. This is one of the main changes that was done to the YZ250X to make is an offorad worthy bike.

So I ran a 9oz for MX I believe, possibly even 7. It was a steahly, whatever their lightest one is. Honestly for offroad go 11 or 13 oz even, it isn't gonna hurt. I also tried the gytr one at one point and liked that.

You can’t directly compare the gytr to the steahly based on weight because the gytr adds most of the weight further to the outside of the flywheel which where the steahly adds it across the whole face. The further from the center the weight is added the more inertia is added.
