Hey guys. Bought a new bike used and had a question. First ride out went down hard and twisted the front end up and the rubber mounts shifted. I straightened it all back out and loosened the mounts and re tightened. It looks straight but when I ride it feel like it may be off just a tad. I can’t tell if maybe it was off when I bought it and then now that I made it straight again it feels weird or maybe it’s still off. I checked the bars and they are not bent. My question is with the rubber mounts is there a right way to tighten them? I just loosened them and kinda pull the bars til they look aligned then tighten to torque spec. I am looking down at the distance from the bar to the clickers on top the fork and they look ok. It’s probably just in my head.
Thanks

Probably bent the wimpy clamp to bar mount bolt. One of the reasons I have recommend MX Bonz clamps for years is the clamp comes with larger OD 8.8 bolts and you have to remove the aluminum sleeve inside the rubber dampener. GREAT IDEA!!!

What bike is this on? If it's KTM/Husky, you may have bent the mount, it's super common. I wrote a blog post about it here: https://luxonmx.com/blog-luxon-bar-mount-fix-ktm-husqvarna-twisting.html

If it's another brand, they can still bend, but it's less likely. The key is to take it all apart and put it back together again to ensure nothing is stuck in a twisted state. This includes triple clamps pinch bolts, axle bolts, etc. If it's still twisted up after that, then something probably is bent.

Thanks for that info. It’s a 18 RM-Z450 so not ktm. I did the axle and pinch bolts. Then loosened up the mounts and wiggled them all around then tightened them back up. Like 3 times. Also took the bars off and grip off and checked the bars on the ground in multiple locations on the floor they were ok. I’ll take the mounts completely off and check the bolts and make sure nothing is sticking

Took the bolts out and inspected and rolled them on the table and took the rubber out and put it all back in and it seems good. Maybe something was still tweaked before it was so hard to tell. Thanks for the help

I did that it should be all good. I think it was a mount issue. I think it’s sorted now.
