This is one film I am actually looking forward to seeing in a theatre.
Love the original and by all accounts the remake is good.

I can't wait to see it!

But what is with all the remakes these days? Have all the good story lines been done in the past or something?

I heard that the new one is actually more true to the book. The original put the focus more on Rooster than Mattie and made her older. After reading that I am interested in seeing it.

Easier to get funding for a known story than an unknown one. For films with any budget, there'll be twenty remakes or derivatives to one original like Inception.

True, though I don't think funding would be a problem for the Coen brothers.

It was definitely more true to the book, and its not as cagey and comical as the john wayne version. i saw it on friday, and i thought it was great. Bridges goes a little overboard with the accent at first, but it either calms down, or i just got used to deciphering it.

go see it if you like westerns. I also saw tron legacy on imax 3-d.. go and see that if you liked the original, cause you aren't going to get 3-d like that at home on blu ray or dvd
