That's a least impressive fuel log, you actually stopped for 6 gallons of fuel?

Mine would all have a low fuel light symbol on the left and read 32-36 gallons...Laughing

I have a '17 Sierra Denali with a 6.2L. The best average I got out of it was 26mpg. With bikes in the bed I get around 21mpg. Normal short trip in town stuff is around 18mpg.

I must have been leaving town, lol. One more bummer about the GM is they only offer a 26 gallon tank, but on the bright side you can still get 500 miles out of it.

The app is called Fuelly, it’s great if you like to keep track of this sort of stuff like I do. You can keep track of multiple vehicles.

This one is my 15 Sierra 3500 on the other hand, I should probably stop keeping track of it.

Two of my buddies just bought 15-17 F150 Supercrews. One is an XLT with the 5.0 and the other is a Lariat with the 3.5 v6. Objectively the v6 is superior in every way, but if it was my money i'd stick with the 5.0. In a truck I always think you're better off with a larger motor instead of a boosted smaller one.

If you're buying used, it really ought to be substantially cheaper than a new one to justify the risk of inheriting someone else's problem. At 30k for a used one I'd stretch a bit and hunt for a deal on a new-leftover model.

The chevy 5.3 is good but I'm not a huge fan of the cylinder deactivation. The torque converter unlocks when it changes, and the random rpm jumps bugs me. Also the side mirrors on the Chevy suck. The colorado has better mirrors.
Ford has a floor shifter and ram has the effing dial. Idk what's so wrong with a colum shifter?
The Toyota gets piss poor gas mileage, and you can ask newmann about the backseat storage lol
Couldn't tell ya much about the nissan.

i'll also say i test drove an '18 Chevy 1500 and was very unimpressed with the motor. i'm comparing it to my Eco that i've been driving for 6 years, but it was a very uninspiring ride. it was the V8 and felt really flat. the actual ride was very comparable to mine, but it felt gutless. my truck gets up and goes, the 1500 felt like i had to put my foot to the floor to do anything and it still felt flat.
A lot of that flat feel could be the Chevy "throttle delay". I've had a couple of my friends who are Chevy owners borrow my old 4.6 v8 f150 and say how snappy and responsive it feels. I think GM does this to help drivers with fuel economy.

I was getting either a RAM 1500 or the F150 , really like them both and only time I ever considered a Ford. Drove the ecoboost and was impressed with how it ran but still wanted a V8 because I have seen the turbos go out around 70k miles . I got the RAM because I can buy at $500 over true cost and I they do not own a Ford dealership of all 23 dealerships I can buy from. Have several friends with eco F150 and they have great luck with them as have I with my Rams. Drove the Tundra and it was cool but just didn't do anything for me but a very solid truck same as Chevy so I don't think you can really go wrong no matter what you buy.

i'm looking at buying between 40K and 70K miles...so if that's a common issue that would steer me away from a Ford. I don't want to pay $20K-$30K for a truck and then have to replace the turbo in a few years.

Talk to me about your Ram 1500...what kind of mileage? How does it tow?

When I was looking at the Ford is when I read about possible problems and the turbo going out popped up on several forums but I have no idea how common that was but they do have plenty of power. My Ram gets about 16mph if I drive easy and I tow trailers with ease but they are not huge trailers either. Don't think you could go wrong on any of the trucks so find the best deal and you will be good to go. Cool
The problem with the turbo is stupid emissions crap. Same things in diesels. It's because they vent the crank case into the intake so the turbo gets all the hot oil vapors and steam sucked into it. There are a ton of companies that make catch cans for this that re routs the crank case vent. This is what I did in my powerstroke.

It's a stupid horrible idea. Engines like cold air better yet they vent hot air into the intake???

It's the end of the year, no smoking deals on leftover 18's? Chevrolet always seems to blow them out for 10-15 under list.

I just picked up this '18 F150.
Got 9k off of 49k sticker and 0.9 financing for 66 months.
It's a lowly XL with vinyl floors, but has all I need. Except heated seats
The SXT package adds 20's, fogs, nice stereo and sport painted bumpers.
It's a super crew with the 6 1/2' bed, 5.0 and 3:73's with an electronic rear diff.
I've heard good things about the ecoboost motors, but I'm an oldschool V8 guy
And I will be dropping the rear 2 1/4" to load bikes easier

Oh I know, I've considered buying them lol but honestly the seats ain't so bad. It's the steering wheel and in the red truck the big ole shift knob (it's a pool ball)
They're just something else to go wrong though. A good radio and power locks/windows is all I need. Oh and cargo lights are the tits

Nice truck, I just bought the Sierra 1500 equivalent, base model with an appearance package, has the basics but no unneccessary electronic stuff. I have all the fancy shit in my 3500 and the wife’s Yukon. No leather, sunroof, adjustable pedals, etc. in this one and after years of buying top of the line, I’m really liking this one. It was a little over half the price of any of the past 5 vehicles we’ve bought and I’m enjoying it.

Another thing to note about the GM’s, sounds crazy but the gas pedal can effect the responsiveness of the engine, quite noticeably. My new Sierra feels way peppier than the wife’s Yukon, and it’s because the Yukon has adjustable pedals. After researching, other owners have ‘modded’ the adjustable pedal by simply attaching a paint stick to the back side of it to eliminate the flex, and this increases reaponsiveness. Makes the engine feel more sluggish than it should.

I should also mention that my 17 Silverado with the 6.2 got better fuel mileage on premium than my 18 Sierra with the 5.3 does on regular. I haven’t experimented with putting premium in the 5.3 yet as it’s not required.

I almost bought a Ford this time with the ecoboost but the GMC came with HID headlights while the Ford had regular halogens and I got a quite a bit better deal on the GM.

I have a 2013 Ram 4x2 with the V6. I commute 400 miles a week. AVG is 25mpg. The ticker is at 107k. Been a great truck.. PAID FOR. I know I know 4x2! Hey, if it snows my ass aint going to work.

My wife has a 17 Ram 1500 4x4 BigHorn, I'll send her ass to work in the snow. Grinning
