The front office Cut the In house ToolRoom to save themselves.
"The Banks are on us" we have to show a profit.
So the P.O. last week for $600,000 will be outsourced
Along with the rest of them forever.

unemployed should consider community college or retraining somehow. Gear heads do well to learn Pro/ENGINEER to become draftsmen. I work at a school where we teach unemployed people to get jobs in design drafting and engineering fields.... think about it at least or pass it around. http://www.proetools.com < I hope that was not too shameless of a pug to get banded off the site but I could not help it.... you said unemployed.... and we in IL too.

We have motorcycles in the school of the school too! I have a YZ450 behind me at this very moment Wink Im teaching a die casting class now and we are converting the kick starter from a machined part to a die cast part in Pro/ENGINEER.

I use Solidworks For Modeling and Mastercam for programming
Everything that came through the door I programmed .

Maybe Proe or UG would be a plus

On a positive note I get at least 3 calls a week from Headhunters looking for candidates. People are hiring, it's not as gloom and doom as some would have you believe.

On a positive note have a tenative job offer with a federal job(going throgh the background stuff) and sent off a application for a test rider position at the harley proving grounds near my house. Hey, Ill ride a pig for pay, i do it for free anyways(not the lady, I have a tour glide besides the cr250 and cr500 :-)

Great news,Oldschool. Sounds laid back, and cool.

Design...Pro-E? Really? I realize it's out there, and pretty big, but Solidworks/MasterCam is where it's at. I can't tell you how many Pro-E drawings I had to spend hours on cleaning up to get something we could actually write toolpath to.

One of the other guys went on to a night shift 3:00 to 3:30 a.m.
Right out of the gate.
There is always a night shift open around here.

One Guy was re hired back under another title to fool the Banks.

The rest fell off the face of the Earth...

I'm using X4mu1 only, they don't have Solidworks as
All design's are done on the outside.

I was going to start a string the other day asking who had friends or family that had lost jobs in this past year and what kind of luck they'd had at getting new employment. We read and hear so much about how bad it is and I thought it might be interesting to see amongst our Vital group what our realities were. Thanks for sharing your story and CONGRATS on getting back to work so soon. Saves on the Malanta. Wink
