Gotta love the hammer just casually hold the next step, up out of the way. Useful things they are.

Bru, I love your attention to detail...the hammar gives us a close estimate to 181mm between the steps...A Level will fine tune the deal. All steps tack welded and pinned into the walls.

All pins into the walls which secure the big spiral stairs will be cut off in order to rotate the whole stair case the ensure that the second smaller stage lines up with the landing at the 40ft point.

I've not had much to do with building through my life, but, every now and then a mate needs some help, so, you help your mate.

One is a Roofy. So, I've been up some heights that I'm not (at all) happy about, while he scurries around like a Squirrel on Angel Dust.

One time He got hooked into doing a spiral staircase like yours there. It went up 5 stories. What have I said about Monied Up Bogans (rich pr**ks) and their 'Follies', before....... All Stainless, 'floating' steps off the center post, with Italian marble walls, all the way up, that weren't to be touched. I think each step, cost around $900 / $1000. To repeat : Rich (filthy rich) Pr**ks.

So, he needs a welder. And not a MIG sprayer / glooper / blobber. And, he turns to a bloke that's about as maneuverable / lithe as a Bull Elephant - Me.

It was all Stainless, TIG'd, so welds had to be perfect. With So Many Steps. That was when I could do 'pretty', pretty bloody easily. But, doing so, while lying down on SS Spiral Steps, well, it was bloody 'interesting', to say the least. Parts of it, you'd trace the weld, and then weld 'blind' for a large part of the full, circumferential weld around the pole. The weird thing is, they, the blind welds, tend to be the most utterly gorgeous beads you do.

Anyway, having to lie down to do it (re, my Bull Elephant maneuverability) , made for some moments, trying not to do the old exit, stage left, down the spiral. Well, it bloody well happened, at near the last step 'fixing'. I got a mighty 'boot' putting the wire into the tungsten, my foot came out of the stop I'd keyed into, and down, the 5 story spiral I went. Not F**ging Good, at all. The scariest 'Non Fun Fair Ride' I've ever had. Other than a sore arse and back from chattering over the zillion and one steps, I was relatively fine. Fluked it, in a Big way. Though, there was some 'claret' smudged on the walls..... luckily, Bear Blood, easily washes off Fine Italian Marble.

Never, ever again. The hardest, "Helping A Mate Out To Make Himself A Fortune" job I've done. Besides the money, He also got 'made use of', by the blokes Wife. She was Spectacular, but the bloke, was a rather Nasty Piece Of Work, deep in the OZ Criminal Underworld. Did I mention my mate was , still is, a bloody Idiot?

We just got back from a trip to Botswana. One of the game lodges we stayed at had a sunken hide right by a water hole, a converted shipping container.

It was super cool. You could literally reach out and touch the elephants but somehow I decided not to!

No idea bud, the owner has to much money I guess. The place is amazing but not really my style. The old castle is always busy with movie shoots at $25k per day.

The new Castle, which has been named the Lichtenstein Dragons nest is the owners private residence for when he visits SA.

I'll be honest...that castle is a monumental waste of money but it's putting eats on your table so it has an upside. Glad you got the gig.

Four more steps to go to reach the final landing height. There after we will start the uprights and hand rails.

Plowboy, its crazy how much money some folk have to spend on extravagance. This project has been named the Dragons Nest which when completed will only be occupied by the owner and his wife for two weeks of the year.

Not just my crew, there are a whole bunch of other good deserving artisans earning good money here.

Went on a safari a couple years ago with my wife. It was probably the most film I've shot in one country. These are all digital though.

The teeth on the bottom of those stair treads look lethal for bare or stocking feet. Evil

First batch of 20 Lanterns ready for delivery. Been working on these since November last year. The client ordered 90 of them. Some components are laser cut, forged, galvanized and then coated with Sigma.

I came across these pretty flowers yesterday up a mountain on the Cape Peninsula. I have never seen them before but have found out that they are called Gazanias or more commonly know as the Namaqualand Daisy.

Does this count………one wall of my trophy room all from the Bushveld of South Africa, Scottco Safaris’s/Mopane Ranch.  Located not far from the small town of Musina.  Only hunted South Africa once, 2003.  My hunting is small time compared to a lot of the guys that big game hunt but I worked hard to get the money to do it.  I keep saying I’m going back but life keeps getting in the way.

The sad thing about the ban on alcohol in South Africa………..I bet the politicians that banned it never missed a drop.

Alcohol and nicotine was only banned during Covid. We are good now.

If ya ever planning another trip to SA let me know. I'm long overdue for a nice Kudu. I ain't going alone, always better to spilt a trip between mates.

The current exchange rate is sweet for you guys. $1.00 will get you over R20 of ours.
